Use your music wisely. It’s hard to walk that line between expressing yourself and making the song selection too eclectic for your guests. We used a cover of “My Heart Will Go On” done by Los Straitjackets as our reception entrance song; they are a garage/surf band (great live show if you ever get a chance to see them) and it’s about the only version of that song that I can tolerate (actually love their cover but hate the original). Also played “This Is The Day” by The The, The Ramone’s version of “Wonderful World’, and “I’ll Fall With Your Knife” by Peter Murphy, and a bunch of other punk/ska/old goth (as in pre-Marilyn Manson) stuff, and rounded put the playlist with old funk/r&b. We had a ton of great feedback from guests of all musical tastes and lifestyles.

I am more of a pierced bride than a tattooed one.. I have been pierced over 25 times but only have three tattoos at the moment. I did rock a mohawk for our wedding though 🙂

Welcome to the Hive! I can’t wait to see what you plan for your wedding. I am old school punk (and just old), we had tons of the music mixed in with more dancable music.

@MissTatas: Love, love, love your wedding hair!!
I have a bunch of piercings, but no visible tattoos (due to my job – boohiss! 🙁 ). My wedding present from my Fiance is going to be a roller derby tattoo on my upper leg, yay!!

I’m not a big picture taker… but Ill scronge some up!
Here’s me at halloween as Princess Bubblegum (instagram edited) to show off my sleeves and you can almost see the three piercings on my chest
I painted plugs to match for this costume and I was SO proud. (I have 1″ stretched lobes)
SO has tattoos as well, but they can be hidden. Theyre mostly on his legs and torso
Here he is playing in the water with our amazing PUPPY. (the face tattoo is a temp from a wedding we had been to the night before)

Punk bride 😉
I have 1 tat, 15 ear piercings, lip and tongue piercings!
For music, processional we’re doing this classical song that plays in Creepshow (no one will know but us 😉 Recessional we’re going to do Michael Jackson’s Rock with you.
Our first song is gonna be our song which is Black Sabbath’s Fluff.
Cocktail Hour music we’re going to play Richard Cheese, he does jazzy covers of really funny songs like Down With the Sickness…again it will be funny to see if anyone notices.
During dinner we’re gonna play surf rock 🙂 🙂
We’re not gonna play to much punk at the wedding because we get others won’t know how to dance to to it. We’re usually quite happy being a mosh pit of two…but we’ll spare others LOL.

@CantWaitToBee: I love Offbeat too but for some reason it feels like a ton of work signing in so I rarely go on…I definitely fit in better over there though…

@icetea: I had the same issues. It was just more trouble than it was worth to me. I was obsessed with the blog before I was engaged but once I started planning..this is infinately easier!

My Fiance and I are tatted up. I have a few on my upper back and one right above my ankle. He’s working on a sleeve that we’re hoping will get done before the wedding. I specifically picked out a dress that will allow me to show off my body art. I’m proud of them and they are a huge part of who I am! I’m hoping to get another large piece on my back before the wedding.
I think one of the really fun parts of the whole wedding planning process has been picking out the music! Fiance is into just about everything- punk, metal, electronic, old school hip-hop. I’m mostly into punk, rockabilly, folk, alt-country. We’re pulling good stuff from just about every genre though.
My wedding shoes:
Fiance will be wearing his favorite pork pie hat, similar to this one!
I’ll post more when I get a chance! It’s nice to connect with some other alt-brides!
