I'm an NC bride in Raleigh!! I'm having my reception at the Marriot at Crabtree because it's a really good value and a nice place :). I haven't done much with the cake, I'm still figuring that out. What are your colors/theme?
@thegoogler88: For our colors we are doing navy blue and white with light blue as an accent. I a fan of blue lol. We are using the North Hills Club for our venue and they also do catering with some very reasonable prices so thats pretty awesome.
I feel like i have a handle on all of the bigger things, its just the details, like hair and makeup, shoes, should we have a dj or do an acoustic 2 man group. so many options!!!
Oh awesome! I love blue too :) My colors are plum and Tiffany blue! I have a great makeup artist, send me a PM with your email and I can email you her information, email and pictures of her work. I still haven't found shoes and it's driving me crazy!
Hey ladies! I am a Raleigh NC bride also! Doing alot on a budget..getting married in October at the All Saints Chapel. I have a great baker for my cake and a photographer! PM me with your email and I will give you the info.
We should set up a meetup for coffee or something to talk about wedding planning!
s0undthealarms@yahoo.com is my email. have either of you two looked into florists yet??? i have no idea where to go or what the prices are...and budget is my best friend right now lol
@cdubz: I emailed you! I don't know if you got it haha. I am doing my own flowers and ordering what I need in bulk for the exception of my bouqet. I did however, to figure out what flowers I wanted/needed went to Michael's and put a bouquet together as a sample for myself. :)
I'm also a Raleigh NC bride!! Ahh, almost 3 months out! We're getting married at the Pavilions at the Angus Barn. I have most of my vendors so far, if any of you need or want references or suggestions, I am SOOO pleased with our "wedding team". We've gotten lots of accolades for who we've chosen, I think we made some really solid choices. I can especially recommend an awesome cake baker. Her cakes were out of this world good. I can't wait to eat more cake at our reception! We're knee-deep in the DIY parts of our reception and throwing around ideas for guestbooks, etc. I'd love to chat with y'all about our raleigh weddings!
Technically, I'm a Durham bride, Duke Chapel and The Cotton Room. But a lot of our vendors far also work in the Raleigh area. if you still haven't selected a photographer, I'd recommend Vesic. He's based out of Winston Salem but travels to the triangle without any extra fee.
sorry ive been out of the loop. i am doing my own flowers but brides & bouqets are amazing. i have my photographer, dj and baker already..id be happy to share info if youd like!
Raleigh bride!! We just signed our contract today for the Stockroom at 230...and that's all we have! Looking for reasonable caterers now :)
I'm relocating to Raleigh soon & plan to have the wedding there! Any help with ideas of where to do things please let me know!
When we were planning our recent wedding, we just wanted to make sure that everything we had was good quality, even if it wasn't fancy. To that end, we ended up getting both our buffet dinner and our wedding cakes from The Q Shack. They do more than just barbecue - our dinner included London broil, chicken Marsala, and veggie lasagna with sides of macaroni and cheese and garlicky broccoli. We had two cakes - one vanilla with almond and one chocolate raspberry. For all that, plus some light hors d'oeuvres, PLUS renting all the dishes and flatware and linens, we entertained 110 people for around $4000. People kept saying how good the food was too - I think they were surprised that a barbecue joint could serve up such a classy meal!
Please check out Rachelle, their baker. She doesn't work with fondant, but if you want buttercream then you owe it to yourself to sample what she can do. She charges less than anyone else, and her cake is unbelievably good.
Hi! I am about 45 minutes from Raleigh, and getting married in Rocky Mount at the imperial centre. Looking for a caterer but no luck as of yet.
I'm a Raleigh bride- getting married at Haywood Hall downtown. Got most of my big vendors out of the way. All of them seem great, but I am especially excited about my florist and caterer I think they will be great. My dj has an on-line area where we can pick all the songs we'd like for different parts of the reception. We're excited about choosing our songs. Let me know if you need some suggestions for those things. Ifanyone knows of affordable hair people let me know! Also, any recommendations for a place for a bridesmaids luncheon or for us to get our nails done together? My MIL really wants to do something like that for us. Good luck to everyone with planning!
Another Raleigh bride here! We're getting married at Caffe Luna. We've got the photographer and officiant officially booked and I have a few potential DJs. We're doing fake flowers from online. I might have a cake lined up but I need to taste it first. :)
We've got plenty of time though, so I am kind of ahead of things right now!
Just thought I'd leave a list of our vendors here -- so far we have nothing but awesome things to say about all of them:
Ceremony: Duke Chapel
Reception: The Cotton Room
Catering (thru The Cotton Room): Triangle Catering
Photograpy: Vesic Photography
Cake: Cinda's Creative Cakes
DJ: Eric with All Around Raleigh DJ
Florist: Tre Bella Florist
Wedding Gown: Victorian Rose Bridal
Hair & Makeup: Lather Hair Salon
Feel free to send me any questions about what we paid, what we're getting, anything like that. Yay!
If any of you brides are looking for an affordable Wedding DOC in the Triangle area, feel free to email me.

@dropofsunshine: another caterer to look at is Belle's catering. They are out of The Big Easy restaurant in Cary and Raleigh, but also do catering for weddings. They are doing 4 amazing passed apps, cheese and crackers and a buffet meal for $27 a person. that also includes any catering related rentals. Plus, they try to keep things local and in season. The girl in charge Brooke, has been amazing so far. (the food at the tasting was great, but of course our wedding isn't for another month, so I hope they carrying things out as well as promised!!!)
Hey girls! I just wanted to post on here to let you know that I'm trying to build my photography portfolio in the Raleigh area. I'm looking for two or three couples to do an engagement shoot with. This would be free of charge and at a location of your choice in the area, because it is really a favor to me!! I have been taking photos for years, but have recently decided to try to delve into the wedding world. If anyone is interested or would like some more information about me, or to see any samples of my past work, please send me a message :)
Raleigh bride here trying to plan a small wedding without spending the equilvalant of a house downpayment. We're doing the wedding and reception at Fred Fletcher Park/Borden Building in downtown Raleigh. I'm doing invites and decorations myself (with the help of amazing friends). Flowers will be bouquets from the farmers market or Whole Foods. I'm still trying to work out catering. That's where we're willing to spend some money. We want good barbecue/ gormet picnic type fare. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated! Also, who are you guys working with for rentals?
Hey! Raliegh bride here! We are getting married at Montague Lake in Raleigh. My photographer is Patricia Suzanne...she totally impressed me by researching my venue before I met with her! Catering is Taylor's Catering out of Fuquay....food truck vibe...cookout style food for a very good price! I don't have an officiant yet...can't believe how much they want to charge! DOing my flowers myself, getting from Farmer's Market. We are having a pie bar so friends and fam are bringing a pie. Still looking for hair and makeup. Ideas for officiant and hair/makeup welcome.
Kayakgal..some places I checked with for catering include Big Al's, Backyard Bistro, Cooper's. They were priced around $14-18 a person if I remember correctly.
@elibas: the good and plenty, they have a facebook page. I'm using them and they are awesome.
If you need help planning I suggest you use the planner I used. I just posted about it because I know how hard it is getting all the details together and she was amazing, and they have reasonable pricing. If your interested let me know and Ill give you her contact information. I highly suggest it.
Hi Raleigh Brides--
I'm on the search for a hair place that can come on site day of to do hair. I'm getting married in North Hills and could use some recommendations!!
Also, did any of you have to sign "wedding contracts" for your hair or makeup?
Thanks!
Hey! I am getting married October 2013 and looking for a makeup artist with resonable prices. My venue is Stockroom at 230! Also where did you guys register? I have really put it off but need to get rolling on that one!
Thanks!
Madeup by Lindsay is doing my hair and makeup. I paid a $100 deposit, no contract. I created a registry at simpleregistry.com . I don't needs plates, towels, sheets. Simple allows you to add honeymoon items, items from websites, etc. We want to redo our kitchen and floors so we registered for gift cards to do that. Good luck.

Hey Bees!
Im a Raleigh, NC bride and wanted to know if there are more of you out there. If so, where did you choose for venue, caterers, cake, etc? I am still planning a lot of things and would LOVE some advice or tips on what to do for a lot of decorating ideas and choices.
I already picked my venue and caterer, but thats about it. So any suggestions or ideas would be fantastic!!!
