Hey bees! Any of you out there with oily skin? I’m obsessed with Neutrogena products (they do WONDERS for my skin’s clarity) but I am wondering if there’s anything else I can do to be, well, less shiny?
I also use the oil absorbing wipes which helps, I just don’t want to have to use them.
Thanks in advance for the advice! 🙂

I love Neutrogena too! Haha, I have oily skin and the best thing I can do is wash it in the morning and at night with a gentle cleanser for oily skin, and then once in the middle of the day with just warm water.
Don’t use anything too strong, or you’ll just produce more oil! I use Neutrogena’s SPF 70 Age-Block sunblock, and it actual mattifies my skin and evens it out too, while giving me sun protection 🙂
Yogurt masks work great too!

I really like the Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish powder. This is the best product I have found so far that keeps me shine-free for hours. My skin is so oily that I am shiny 30 minutes after using oil sheets or washing my face. A little bit of the powder goes a long way.
Sometimes I use Milk of Magnesia as a primer, especially in the humid summer. I put a thin layer on with a cotton ball in the morning (after washing/moisturizing, before makeup). It works pretty well to keep my makeup from sliding or looking to greasy, for a few hours at least.

My favorite product thus far is Bare Escentuals Oil Control Primer (Prime Time). My make up stays on all day, and I don’t get shiny.

I’ve used the Coastal Scents $4 silica powder that’s supposed to be the same as the Makeup Forever finishing powder. It works really well.
I also just tried Urban Decay’s de-slick since the makeup counter girl suggested it. She told me to look in the mirror (at my shiny mirror forehead), dusted some on with a powder brush, and told me to look again. It was amazingly matte for having used so little product. And it comes in a compact that easier to carry for touchups than loose powder.

I’ve just started using Bare Essentials/Minerals and its working on my dry skin. However, I did loads of research and there were 98% good reviews and the majority all said it was great for oily skin and took the shine clean away.

I use a mattifying get that helps keep the oil down on my face

I second Bare Essentials/Minerals. It soaks up the oil really well, at least on my super greasy face. 🙂 If you don’t want to look like you’re wearing makeup, the product called “mineral veil” is really good for soaking up oil. Just dust it over your face and voila! Matte lady.

I love me some Neutrogena, too. But to combat shine I use MAC blotting powder. I love this stuff. It keeps me matte and I usually only have to touch it up once during the day. I know its hard to think of it this way, but your oily skin is actually a blessing. It will help you age well.
