My fiance and I would like to participate in pre-marital counseling but are not sure how to find a good fit.  This exercise is in preparation for marriage, not to address any known problems that exist.  Anyone have a good recommendation?  Preferably near West Hollywood/Beverly Hills Area or Burbank area.

     Thank you!

The only thing I can recommend is to call around to a few churches and ask to speak to the pastor and see if they offer it.  I know that the person perfoming our cermony requires that we meet with him 3 or 4 times before the wedding - like you, not to fix anything, but to just be more aware of what we are expecting and so that there can be less of a shock for married life.

    Good Luck!!

We have an amazing mentor couple through our catholic church. We will also be going to a catholic premarraige retreat. As mrs johnson suggested, check out a few churches.

i too would recommend a local catholic church to sign up for their engaged encounter or pre marriage retreat. if you're not catholic i would understand why you'd have some hesitation but let me tell you my experience. they were not preachy at all. in fact the only time i heard the word God mentioned was at the very first class meeting when our teacher said a prayer for us. After that, the course material was solely based on psyhcologists and professional marriage therapists. we surprisingly loved ours so much we asked if our friends could take the course even though they're already married and even though they're not catholic. our teacher was very happy and said of course he's had many marrieds and many non catholics take his courses. they teach great things and we got so much out of it. it cost only $250 dollars for a two month once a week class! totally worth it!
