my friend has been shooting weddings in LA for 5 years. BUT as a second photographer. She is fantastic and is starting to branch off on her own. I'm not sure how much she'll charge you, but it will certainly be less than hiring her through the other company.
She has been shooting for http://skyebluphotography.com/sbmain/
Her personal site is http://www.picottephotography.com/picotte_photography.html
and that has a link to her blog as well.
Check it out! and good luck!
i just replied to your other post:
photog: www.natalylemus.com (under 2,000.. some packages even a little over a grand)
videographer http://www.bestwishesweddingvideos.com/ About $1,200 if you book a photobooth for $1300. Or $1400 if you dont. Pretty great package.
Hi, WMforever, did you use these two vendors or do you know someone that has? Just curious as I am still shopping around for a videographer.
thanks.
i would have used nataly but she was booked on my day :(
i am using the videographer though and he's really nice. i know someone else who used him and he was great and unobtrusive during the wedding.
RODNEY GOTTLIEB, (RJG PHOTO) 310 202-0150, once you look at his book you will wonder why he doesnt charge more-incredible!!!
Marlin Munoz Photography - They are a husband-wife team and very nice. http://marlinmunozphotography.blogspot.com/
I like zenia photography, but there are a ton, I am also in a budget, I compiled a large spreadsheet if you are interested.
This is totally a personal choice but something to consider- are any of your attendees adept with a standard video camera? We are big film/photo people (I majored in photo/my FI minored in film) and we are not having a videographer but just having someone operate the camera during the ceremony and speeches.
Unless you really want a high quality play by play of your wedding, you can trim your budget by foregoing the videographer and focusing (no pun intended) on a photographer. My FI minored in film at 'SC and friends always ask him to shoot video. He actually does an awesome job!
They only do photo but they are very reasonable and take great photos. They were able to customize a package to fit my budget. Plus they're a SUPER cute couple
another idea is to hire a photographer from out of the area and fly them in - which, in comparison to most LA photographers is much, much cheaper...
The photographer I had on my wedding day (Jennifer Cress in Minneapolis, MN) is AMAZING and her packages are super reasonable for her work. She only charges airfare and one nights accomodations on top of her typical packages to go on location.

I just worked with Jordana from Hazelnut Photography at the TTD shoot this weekend and totally fell in love with her. If we didn't already have a photog booked, I would hire her in a minute. She and her hubby are an adorable pair and they offer photobooth service! I highly recommend her!
I have to disagree about bestwishesweddingvideos.com. I used them for our wedding and it was bad. During the ceremony, he pointed the camera to face the wall as he was setting up the tripod. So for a few minutes you can hear the ceremony but watching the wall. The photobooth was great but video-wise.. i was SO disappointed.
Zenia Anderson - http://www.zeniaphotography.com/ is good. she wasn't available for my wedding but she did our engagement pictures and they turned out so nice! Although I think she's pregnant but i think she's open to appointment for next year.
Caroline Tran - http://www.carolinetran.net/ is good. I didn't use her for wedding or engagement but for boudoir and her style is fantastic!
for video you can try www.voilavideo.com. Verey good prices and excellent work! I had the opportunity to work once with them.
The person who is doing mine is a co-worker, so I can't say much about her prices, but she is so dear and sweet and I like her work (because to me photos are the most important thing about the day!). She and I are in the process of discussing the engagement photos and she is really open to making them turn out how we want them to. She does some really neat things with the photo effects that I love so that is nice.

I really like that she is willing to look at the images I like and she is gathering ideas from me of what I want my photos to look like.
Hope it helps and good luck!
Try David at GenesisWeddings.com He shoots pics with his wife. I've heard good things about them
I'm using Mike and Miah!! They are super nice!!
Otherwise my friend is an awesome photograher too. His name is Matthew Lin.
