OK I found the perfect dress in the perfect color for my daughter who is my MOH. I have looked all over and honestly had a very difficult time finding the dress that captured the vintage elegant feel without being from a particular era. My daughter was insistant that it not be strapless and it is not. But it is a bit low cut. Now I think it bothers my mother much more than it bothers her, but I do not want to make my beautiful soon to be 14 year old daughter to look like a tart.
So I am hoping that the neckline can be raised a bit and wanted your opinions 🙂
Here is the dress on a mannequin
and here it is on my daughter

I would find some lace or similar looking fabric and just sew in a small piece to cover up the deep V of the neck line. I think how it is now is inappropriate for a 14 year old.

I agree with @Moose1209: If you got some really pretty white or ivory lace it would be beautiful and still give it that vintage feel. You can actually buy pieces of lace that clip to a dress, but I can’t find the magazine atm.

Thanks, I keep hoping the same dress will turn up on ebay and then I can buy it to give a seamstress the fabric to work with

I am a seamstress and I agree with the other posters, a lace insert would be your best bet; depending on how much fabric their is in the bodice, it might be able to be sewn together in the middle, so that it isn’t quite so low.
