Hi everyone! So I know my post seems kind of odd but my Fiance and I are trying to solve an issue with our pets.
So we have two dogs and one cat. We have had the dogs longer than our current cat but we have had cats with them before and they were fine however this is where it gets a little weird:
Our one dog Moe and Lola (our cat) get along fine, they absolutely adore eachother and do almost everything together. But our other dog Onyx (who was raised with cats since she was a puppy and is very interested in getting to know Lola) I swear is getting beside herself because Lola is TERRIFIED of her. And note Onyx is a very loving and sweet black lab, and has never ever been agressive and shows genuine interest in the cat but anytime she goes near Lola, Lola runs and hides under our bed.
It’s really not that big of an issue but it would just be nice if all three of them can get along and be in the same room together. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or had ever had a similar issue?

MrsL2015: Cat + Dog is really a case sensitive issue, and a lot depends on the individual personalities of each.
I will say that labs have a bombastic kind of enthusiasm that just doesn’t seem to jive with cats as a rule. We have a lab and he’s certainly not interested in hurting the cat, but his approach to her is just all wrong, it freaks her out and sends her packing.
What worked for us was taking the novelty out of the cat’s appearance in our home, she tends to laze around in the sun on the upper floors, a part of the house the dogs do not have the run of….so whenever he did see her it was like, “hey…there’s that thing again, Imma go check it out!” and wham, she’d head for the hills. So, every night, after the lab had been fed and walked and played with and the other dogs were all wound down and chillin, we’d go get the cat and have her snuggle in the living room with us, keeping the lab at a fair distance, making sure only clam interaction occurred…and after a while, he just didn’t really care any more about her…so she was happy to do her thing without interference.

Thanks! And yeah I know labs are very enthusiastic and that’s exactly what Onyx does when she sees Lola! Haha but the odd thing is Moe is a lab husky mix and is way more hyper than Onyx. But I’ll give it a go tonight while I’m baking and doing dishes, the dogs know to stay out of the kitchen while we are cooking/eating. That way Lola can lounge on the dishwasher and hopefully see Onyx is just a big clumsy dog and wont harm her 🙂

I don’t have advice, but had to comment that my cat is also named Lola!<br />
