MrsL2015:  Cat + Dog is really a case sensitive issue, and a lot depends on the individual personalities of each.

I will say that labs have a bombastic kind of enthusiasm that just doesn’t seem to jive with cats as a rule.  We have a lab and he’s certainly not interested in hurting the cat, but his approach to her is just all wrong, it freaks her out and sends her packing.

What worked for us was taking the novelty out of the cat’s appearance in our home, she tends to laze around in the sun on the upper floors, a part of the house the dogs do not have the run of….so whenever he did see her it was like, “hey…there’s that thing again, Imma go check it out!”  and wham, she’d head for the hills.   So, every night, after the lab had been fed and walked and played with and the other dogs were all wound down and chillin, we’d go get the cat and have her snuggle in the living room with us, keeping the lab at a fair distance, making sure only clam interaction occurred…and after a while, he just didn’t really care any more about her…so she was happy to do her thing without interference.
