I am having some logistics issues. My wedding will be outdoors (woohoo!) but that has presented some interesting challenges for the ceremony. My main question is this– I don’t want the majority of guests to see me before the wedding but I also don’t want to walk terribly far (despite my efforts at breaking them, my heels in are still not comfortable). Below is a diagram of the ceremony site (labelled map 3). The football shaped area labelled “anniversary plaza” is where the “altar” will be and I had hoped to walk down the main/center aisle. The garden access restrooms will be open (they are pretty much holes in the ground behind a door, not what I had in mind for the 40 minute waiting in the wings…) None of the buildings will be open nearby 🙁
I hope I uploaded this picture correctly and my explanation were clear… Otherwise this will make no sense and I apologize 🙂 I am willing to make some concessions if I can’t come up with an ideal solution (like people seeing me before hand instead of hanging out in a port-a-john before the ceremony). And yes… I am still working on my heels and looking for new ones (but the dress has already been hemmed to their height and it would be an expensive re-do).

Could you set up some sort of tent? Or a way of hanging some curtains to make a visual block where you can sit and wait?

Where’s the parking? Where will the guests be entering from?
I had a similar issue, so let me tell you what I did, if that helps. I had pictures with teh bridal party at a different location prior to the ceremony. So me and my groom and the wedding party just hung out at the photo location and sipped some champagne until it was close to time for the ceremony. Then we drove (10-15 min) back to the ceremony location. We arrived about 15 minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, so most people were seated or getting seated. We all walked to the only area that was out of view, which was behind the catering tent. There were definitely people that saw me walking from the car to the area behind the tent, but I didn’t really care about that. We all got ourselves in order and then the ceremony started and we all walked in from there.
So, could you just hang out behind the bathrooms? Sure, some people may get a glimpse of you, but I don’t think that’s a problem. And definitely better than hanging out in an outhouse!!!

What about waiting in one of the little alcloves of the rose garden? Perhaps the two directly ‘behind’ the Anniversary Plaza? Is there any way you could be dropped off by car, or perhaps walk the distance in more comfortable shoes and then duck down and swap to heels just before going down into the plaza?

i have a very similar issue… i’m having our transportation only drop me and the bridal party off like 15 minutes before the ceremony so i don’t have to be hiding out for too long.
i also think maybe swap out more comfortable shoes for your walk?

Sorry it’s really hard to tell from the map where you can hide since we don’t kmow how big or tall things are. if it helps, my ceremony is outside in a botanical garden and my girls and I will be waiting behind a large bush for like 30 minutes before the Ceremony. Haha. we will have chairs and refreshments so I think it will be ok.
