The last Tucson thread was from 2 years ago?! No way. Come on Tucsonans, show yourselves!!
I've decided I will BUMP this every month until I find another Tucson bride!!!
Well I'm not getting married in Tucson, but I'm living here at the moment and am trying to plan from here, get my dress altered from here, etc. So hi!
I live here and am getting married here! Well, the Amado Territory Ranch, to be more specific :)
@Liltiggster: Woot woot! Where are you getting married? Who are your vendors? Let's see the dress! Lol, I'm excited for Tucson folk...
I'm in Phoenix... hey thats not too far;)
woohoo! we are having our VR in Papago Park. not until may 2013, but still... i'm already planning. doing alot of DIY projects, so the more time the better as far as I am concerned. I don't want anything to look half assed, like it did when I first got married.
@katiedee: Hi there Katiedee!!! I love that you started a Tucson thread! :o) You rock! I am a Tucson wedding photographer, but that isn't the reason I post here.... I swear!! Lol I am not spam! Lol I got married myself a couple of years back and love all things wedding....and the Weddingbee. :)
You guys should check out this new site for tucson.... It is brand new, so not too much happening yet. Lol, I think someplace on there I read..."We need your love!" Lol... But I can see the potential of it! Tucson needed something local... for info sharing and such!! :)
Congratulations to all Tucson (and surrounding area ;o) Brides!!! Go Tucson....
I'm a bit late to the party! It has taken me literally over a year to join WB (I've been a lurker since I got engaged last December), but I finally broke and I wanted my first post to be a proud acknowledgement that I am a TUCSON bride :)
I'm interested to hear what locations/vendors everyone here is using/used.
Go Tucson!! :)
@Sunshining: Yay and welcome!
Well we STILL haven't made any real wedding decisions so I don't know what venue/vendors we're using. I thought things would be going a lot more smoothly/quickly than they are, so I did buy a dress pretty early on! Lol! I got it from A Tailor Tuxedo & Bridal totally on a whim. They were great, and my dress was pretty effing cheap!
Wow girl, you need to get to moving there! lol. But I'm sure you already know that. What kind of wedding are you envisioning?? Do you have any locations in mind?
@Sunshining: Obviously my date will not be 11/5 anymore, I just haven't changed it because I have no idea when it is going to be. We just don't have any money right now, so we can't really afford a wedding for the number of guests we have to invite.
Ohh, gotcha, that makes sense. I feel your pain, we've had an almost 2 year engagement just so we'd have plenty of time to save up. At least this way, you'll have ample opportunity to get some planning ideas :)
Yeah, it kind of sucks, but it'll happen when it happens.
Where are you having yours??
Yay! Happy to see Arizona brides! We are taking engagement pics for our save the dates on Sunday.... Suggestions?
@Melissa.erin: Oooh fun! Do you guys have any locations in mind that would "feel" like you two?? I mean.... Are you guys more outdoors types, or baseball fans, or mountain hikers? Lol Because I have a TON of great suggestions for ya. :) Did your photographer leave it up to you, or just open to suggestion...? :)
@Ronneykay:Hi there! I just met a couple at Papago Park this weekend for a shoot... We ended up at a golf course near by, but the park is awesome. Looks just like the agua caliente park here in Tucson actually. I have some pics of Papago from this weekend if you would like to see them. :) Congratulations!!
@katiedee: Sorry to hear about your postponement. But it is better to be ready, right? :/ I have a TON of info about Tucson vendors and such if you would ever like any of it or would like to chat? You can PM me anytime. I know a LOT of venues and such...
Oh, and sorry for posting responses 3 times, I still don't know how to reply to all three of you guys in just one post. :(
@Tara Goodell: hey! We are taking most of the pics on my family's farm...... but i'm worried about what im wearing and about poses. We are very affectionate, but I dont want cheesy pics. Here are some pics of places we are taking em

the last two are pics my brothers and i took for mothers day..... we want something similar. laid back & outdoors. FI LOVES to hunt, as do I, but I cant not come up with a way to incorporate camo or hunting without looking white trash lol
I just got married in Tucson just over a month ago, so HI!!!
@College: Congratulations! I saw your pics on the Saguaro Buttes Facebook page and they are so beautiful!! You look amazing =)
We are considering the Buttes, but it's suuuccchhhhh a long wait for a Saturday date! They don't have anything until June of next year!! Plus, we're not really "desert" people...but it's just so nice there!
@katiedee-awe...thank you......it is beautlful there....i love that whole place....i know the waits there are crazy.....i booked like a year and a half ahead because I had heard that from multiple people-my dh thought I was crazy- but i'll have to tell him about your story...then he wont think im so paranoid...lol
@Melissa.erin: Hello there!!! I LOVE that rock wall.... And what an awesome mom's day gift! I am going to message you in a moment. :) Way too much to write in a post reply. Lol But with couples pics, I want to capture a couple just being...close, and see what happens. Lmao What I mean to say is that, just because you guys are affectionate, it won't come off as cheesy as long as you are not "posed" being affectionate. lol If that makes any sense.
Yeah, that didn't come out how I was thinking it. I'll just message you... ; ) I've also got some ideas about incorporating the hunting theme into a few shots! (Minus the trash... Lol)
@College: I second that Congratulations!!!! I've just looked at your pictures on your facebook as well! They are amazing... My absolute favorite is the one of you and your girls just laughing...and one of them is lighting a candle in the background I think. It rocked... :) And those sunset pics are amazing too.
Congrats again. What a beautiful day!
okay ... just have to ask...
is there any plus size tucson brides who have been to the alfred angelo store there? is it worth the drive from phoenix? I am plus size and want to try some of these dresses on, but don't wanna drive all the way to tucson if it aint worth it:)
just had to ask!
@Ronneykay- i'm not plus size so I dont know how much help this is, but the workers at the alfred angelo in tucson are super sweet-they really make the expereince enjoyable. Maybe call and ask if they have sample sizes that you would be able to try on :)
@tara goodell-thanks so much, that is so sweet of you. i abosolutely love that picture; i didnt even realize it was being taken until they posted in on their facebook. those are usually the best pictures :D
@Ronneykay: Plus-size or not, I don't know why you would make the drive to Tucson. You have soooo many more stores up there. I was wanting to go to Phoenix for the great selection! Either way, my friend found a great dress at Alfred Angelo. I wouldn't say she is plus-size, but maybe a 10-12. Good luck!!
On a side note, I still can't believe how few Tucson brides are on here. I live right next door to a very popular venue, and there are at least 2 weddings a week there. How are they doing it without the Bee?!?! LOL.
@Tara Goodell: always love pics of papago park:) we have tons, we hike there alot, we literally live walking distance to it. And yes, it has a golf course. Its where we originally got married at so it makes sense to do the VR there. I'm going all out this time though, the wedding I never had:) I've already been called a bridezilla, because I am DIYing all of my decorations (yes i started even though its not for 2 years) and i get really irritated when things dont look right or turn out how i thought haha...
yes! post pics! we got married and are having our VR at the "island" area, ramadas 9 & 10. its where the stage is
@katiedee: I am finding that they don't have the size or style I want. I have found a few:} Tucson is only like an hour and a half away, so its not that far if they have a good selection. Not sure if I will go there or not, I have tried on some good dresses here. There is a shop called "strut" and its for brides 12+ its awesome. The smallest dress they have is either a 16 or 18.
Love it! i hope she gets more fit and flare styles for sure.
@Ronneykay: I actually got my dress at David's Bridal, I'm plus size, but they are doing the alterations at Alfred Angelos. I'll tell you this, you have a lot more options about the alterations at A.A., and they didnt charge me a "Rush" fee for the last minute alterations. I had no idea that you cant change your D.B. Dress all that much, that is if you get the alterations there. My dress needed the neckline (halter, $15) taken up, the cleavage part taken in (dont know what the official term is, lol, $20 or so), the hem taken up a few inches, which is being done at the bodice (Most Expensive part! $80-100 depending), a bra holder in the back so it doesnt stick out ($5), and a small bustle (so i dont drag my train during the reception, $40). And they are doing it with less than 3 weeks to go!
Hi! I'm getting married in less than 2 weeks, and have taken on a boat load of DIY (dont think I'd do it again, given that I work full-time, and have a 7 month old daughter). My theme is vintage-like, with modern touches. Yellow, navy, lime green, and white is the color scheme. I have milk glass vases that I got off of ebay and in the few thrift stores that carried them at a reasonable price around town. My budget? 6,500. My dad purchased my dress, paid for alterations, and will cover the venue.
Venue- Amado Territory Ranch, Amado, AZ
They allow you to bring in your own liquor, no corkage fee, your own caterer, although they have 2 restaurants on site, one of which will be catering for us. You can pretty much customize it however you'd like. The only problem is getting vendors out there, since it's 40min from Tucson.
Flowers- Savon Wholesale florist- will let you know the final price/breakdown of what I got when I pay for them.
They have a wide selection, and if you call ahead, they can order you whatever they can get ahold of, take for instance Billy Buttons, or Craspedia, which you cant find anywhere in Tucson, I've looked around.
Made my own vintage inspired napkins (I can sew reasonably well, not too shabby), my own ruffled table runners (courtesy of a fellow Bee, but I used a different fabric, I was intimidated by burlap). I will be doing my own floral centerpieces (gulp) with a few close friends and family members.
Cake- Village Bakehouse- $250, will pick it up instead of paying for delivery fee.
They have amazingly moist, delicious cake! It will be a 3 tiered italian-buttercream-frosted with a cool modern looking grass design, and a gray satin ribbon/sugar flowers at the base of each tier. I special ordered 3 yellow and white designed fabric birds on Etsy for my cake topper.
