My FI thinks it's so silly for me to reread all the books over and over again
He said it was a tween movie/book series =(
Any other Saga obsessed brides?
I've read the first three and seen the movie. I wouldn't call myself obsessed ,but I think they're pretty entertaining.
*raises hand* I've already read the 1st book 3 times (they are so addictive). Did you like the movie? Its available for preorder on the Barnes and Noble website... just 10 more days!!!
I preordered my copy as soon as I found out I could. I have seen it 5x in theaters, and countless times on the internet.
My girlfriend and I are hosting a Twilight party the day it comes out =)
I've read the entire series once.....ready to re-read it again!
Ohhhh Edward!! :) I actually read the saga really quickly because I was kinda doing it at work (eek!) It took me less then a week to read all of 'em...Maybe it's time to start all over...hmm... :)
I read the entire Saga over a weekend.
Mind you, I only paused to eat and sleep and tinkle
I was kind of expecting a bigger battle, but I think that Stephanie ended the Saga the way she saw fit. And I love it just the same.
I haven't re-read them, but I know I spent my entire Target gift card on the books and spent my Christmas break reading all four of them OBSESSIVELY. I started with the first one just to see what all the fuss was about, and was completely sucked in. I even dragged my fiancee to see the movie (of course he made fun of dreamy Edward the whole time).
I read them so fast I was done in a few days too. I went around to three targets in a day to find the second book! hahah. I had to finish the saga but I haven't seen the movie I wanted to but no one would see it with me and I didn't want to go by myself! OH and I bought the third book with a birthday card. A card for no one, I didn't want the sales clerk to think I was into a tween book series about teenage vampires!!! So I bought it with a card so he would think it was a birthday gift! I don't know if it worked though. hahahh.
Um is it bad that I have requested my fiance to grow his hair out to an Edward Cullen-like coif?? I may, in fact, be slightly obsessed with this book series!
I just finished Breaking Dawn last night! I absolutely love the series.
I am rereading the series for the 4th time, I am on NM, although I don't like it as much since I am a fan of TEAM EDWARD...
I read the whole series, but hated the movie. However, I'm totally looking forward to the next movie. Team Jacob all the way!
I really enjoyed the series, I read all 4 in a week. Mostly at work, bad I know! Im a little afraid to see the movie because they are never as good as the book. I will most likely read the series again after the wedding, i cant really afford to drop off the face of the earth for a week again! Did any one else feel totally out of touch with the world when they were reading it?
im not obsessed but really enjoyed the books, yes therey were written for the teen reader, but they were more a guitly pleasure read for me. I havent read them over and over again though.
I started reading the True Blood series (on the last book) that the HBO series is based off of. Also vampire related... very good.
My FI thinks I'm nutzo too, but whatever! LOL I LOVE me some Edward... mmmm.mmmm
I agree with ljcadv that they are a guilty pleasure! :D
Yes totally obsessed! I tried not to cave in to my friends' demands that I MUST read them for soooo long...then I bought the first two...& after finishing New Moon at 9pm one night I had to go out in the middle of a gawdawful snowstorm to get the other two.
I haven't seen the movie though yet...waiting for it to be on Comcast movies on demand.
Read all 4 books seven times each. I told my husband that I have a crush on Edward (the one in my mind - MORE perfect than Rob Pattison). Hated the movie. I do have high hopes for the next movie.
HECK YES!!!! Love the books, preordered the movie, and I can't wait for the fifth book- Midnight Sun.
Lordy, I sound like a teenage girl, but seriously, I love me some Edward Cullen!
MissStellar I'm on team Jacob too!! And i'm only two books into the series ... going to start book three tonight. I dont think I'm obsessed but so far so good! :)
I've read the whole series, I really liked them (super addicting), except the fourth dragged a little bit in the beginning, but got way better in the end. I was not a fan of the movie. I think they could have done so much better with it. I think Edward was really awkward in the beginning and got a lot better towards the end. I think the second movie will be much better because they are supposed to have a much bigger budget.
Dakota Fanning is going to be in it too!
Has anyone read Edwards side? Stephanie Meyer put it online, but I'm hoping she'll finish it, so I'm waiting for the actual book.
@ Newport: I read Edward's side. I think it's better than Bella's!
@Humarock: I could probably go into all the reasons why I'm for Jacob and against Edward, but that's for a while different blog!
I also didn't like the move. Rob Pattinson was awesome (although he didn't look like he was carved from stone. You could see his stubble and you could see him blush!). I though Kristen Stewart was slightly annoying as Bella, but that's just my opinion!
I haven't seen the movie becuase so many of my students complained about it, but I really enjoyed the books.
I read them as (ahem) "research" since I am a high school English teacher and many of my female students became obsessed with the books. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)
I asked my FH if I could put "You are my life now" into our programs and he loved it, until he realized it was Twilight. So I stick to just referring to my Bridesmaids as my pack. :)
Ha yes I love Twilight!! I know they aren't the best books ever, and the movie was actually quite bad in my opinion (but at the same time, sooo good:D ) but I'm totally addicted. Team Edward all the way!!
LOL. I actually have this website to blame! I never gave the books a second thought until tons of bees wrote about getting addicted. My FI picks on me and will ask me how reading 'Vampire Highschool' is going.
Oh crap, I literally *just* finished reading Twilight but haven't started the others. I don't want there to be a team Jacob and whatnot! I'll be back to this thread in a few days once I've consumed read the other books. I'm so worried Edward is going to have his "heart" broken now!
I loved them! Read all 4 in about a week. Bella started to get on my nerves a bit by the end though.
I liked them at first... a LOT. Great escape fiction that I devoured. And I loved the erotic tension. But the more I think about them, the more I become irritated with Bella's character and what a simpering idiot she is.
The gender roles in the book are kind of screwed up, but it can be pretty hot in a dominant/submissive kind of way. However, when I had my DH read the books, and we talked about what women see in them, I really realized that Bella has pretty much no redeeming characteristics and is built that way on purpose so that women can more easily substitute themselves for the main character. Ah, fantasy literature!
I thought this whole thing was soooo dumb... that is until I saw the movie. I am hooked. I immediately started reading the books! :) It is seriously addicting. I can't wait til Saturday! :) The movie comes out on DVD!!
P.S. I have read Edward's side. It is SOOOO good. I want her to finish it soooo bad! :)
not completley obsessed but LOVE it. Read the series twice and saw the movie three times
I read all 4 books in less than a week, it's about time I re-read them. :o)
I wasn't a huge fan of the movie (think some acting was less than desirable), but that didn't stop me from pre-ordering the DVD. I'm hoping there are lots of extras on the DVD.
I am anxiously waiting for Meyers to hopefully release Midnight Sun. I NEED it. :o)
Mrs. CP, I too thought Bella was kind of annoying. I mean, there are guys falling in love with her left and right and there is nothing special about her at all! I decided that the author must have made her that way on purpose - if you are a "tween" girl, you probably feel silly and awkward and like there's nothing special about you, but you can still have some totally hot vampire all over you - just like Bella!
I agree with the anti- Bella faction. I always point my female students to Pride and Prejudice for a little education on how a female character should behave :).
Oh, btw- a lot of my students are now hooked on the "uglies" trilogy (which actually has 4 books) by Scott Westerfeld. I've read the first three. They're the same quick-read speed as Twilight with a lot more adventure, but no Edward.
I'm in the middle of book 4 right now! I wouldn't say I'm obsessed, but they're entertaining reads. My FI keeps trying to make fun of me, but he's big into plenty of other fantasy novels, so he doesn't have a leg to stand on. We end up having long conversations about the differences between the differences between the vampires and werewolves in Twilight and the ones in his books.
