Absolutely ZERO good news!! Lol!!! But I love racing back in on Mondays as well checking to see if anyone has new bling!!! I was actually told this weekend by M (after searching for bargains, as usual): look baby, I can find my own good deal on your ring. I don't need you to help and send me pictures. My response: NO YOU CAN'T. You don't know anything about rings or what's a great deal with an aquamarine. His: You don't know what I know, but you'll just have to sit and wait and see what type of a good deal I find. (Roll eyes)
Anyhoo.... I can't wait to see the ring, and please post with pictures!!
Last night we came back into town and had two packages waiting for us. I love packages! One was the paper (copper) to matte our invitations on and the rhinestones I ordered for the serving set and toasting glasses. I couldn't wait to work on them and they are turning out A-Mazing! :) YAY. I get so excited when DIY works out just like you want it to!
@crebre- that is too funny! my guy has gone from ring dunce (last year described his mom's ring to me as "big and shiny") to apparent expert (described his coworker's engagement ring as a 1.0-1.05 ct solitaire in a tiffany setting with excellent color and clarity). lol. I guess boys ARE capable of research... too funny.
I don't have any big news. Still waiting on our vacation in a bit less than 2 weeks (cannot WAIT). I have started to get worried lately that he won't do it then because I think he knows I'm expecting it during the trip... but my bff who helped him shop for the ring was in town this weekend and when I dropped her off at the airport, I said something about hoping it happened during the trip and she said "yea I wouldn't be too worried" haha. So I'm hoping she is privvy to some inside info on the proposal and it is coming in 2 weeks! Ah!
woohoo!! Care to show us querida?! i did diy projects as well (for my son's projects).... i love diy!! i feel like i'm doing such a great thing with diy because it saves so much money!!
Nothing here, just some talk about where we would like to do the hitching, costs, and registries/gifts.
His coworker's daughter is getting married this coming weekend, and his mom was saying how you should give cash, as the registries are just for the shower, and the cash is needed to offset the wedding costs, because his cousins cost 60k (after 30k of gift), and therefore everyone must need the cash to offset the costs. Waiting on monetary gifts to offset the cost seems like it would just add waaaayy too much stress to an already stressful situation. I wish I knew people to give me 30k of gift.
I really need to start pestering him... >.>
@corgi: your beau's statement was hilarious!!! how funny!! M teased me because I did a DIY favor bag on my blog yesterday and he was like you gave step by step instructions?! and I was like yep and he saw a few pictures and when I told him I got the HOW (Housewife of the Week) He was like but you aren't a wife how'd you win... yeah... and i told him because I stay at home and take care of you and the kid(s) and he nodded and agreed. i think he thought i was delusionally telling everyone that i was married!! LMBO!!
@buckwheatis: congratulations!!! i'm so happy and excited for your graduation from waiting to engaged!!! eeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!
@surkim: his worker's coworker and daughter are crazy. why not just have a great wedding on 30k?! if they didn't have the money to spend, they shouldn't have spent it!!
crebre, it's not the coworker's daughter with the 90k wedding, it was my bf's cousin. But yeah, a 30k wedding would be pretty nice as well...
Also, congrats to buckwheatis!
FAINT: 90K?! omg okay... yeah.. wow... whoa. faint, pick myself up and respond: okay awesome, great for them!! i wish i could afford to spend that much on a wedding, but i'd probably pay off my stu loans or my suv.. shoot if my parents gave anything i'd probably err on the side of paying off my suv before i paid for my big day...
Haha i love checking the waiting section every day to see if someone got engaged! lol
I have sorta good news...i was showing my bf a ring last night (after about 2 weeks of shopping around) and he was like "i think you should stop looking, i got this from here"
all i could do was smile lol
I wait on Mondays too waiting to see who got engaged.
Good news? nothing to report, but no bad news!!!
I'll def share the DIY - I took step by step pics, just can't do it from work today...
Well I am already engaged. Have been since June after dating my fiance for 11 months.
We had a family event Saturday and after that my future brother in laws girlfriend and I went out to a Gary Allan concert about an hour and a half away. Just us two girls and had a BLAST! When we returned to her condo after the concert, we decided to continue the night out for some drinks and dancing just her and I since we haven't really had the opportunity to do so since I started dating my Fiance. It was our bonding night to get to know one another and she is an awesome girl!Love her!! Her and my FBIL have been dating for almost 6 years. So I mean we always were at family gatherings all togethr but didn't get the chance to go have some one on one time.
So, anyway, we get back to her condo after the concert to clean up and change, when my fiance called me and told me I had to come home ASAP!! And I live over an hour away:-( Something was weird because my FBIL was calling her as well to see why we were hanging out after the concert. It was so funny, because he normally wouldn't do that! My fiance over the phone made me walk out of the condo to tell me why i had to so badly leave.
My FBIL called my Fiance and told him to make his fiance(me) leave his gf's house immediately. :-) My future Brother in Law proposed that night after i left! He had a hotel and champagne an dflowers all lined up and we almost ruined it by our spur of the moment fun!!! I AM SO EXCITED!!!! So I figure maybe this would fit into your category!! I love engagement stories!!!
@Buckwheatis - WOOO HOOOOO!!!!
So good to hear engagement news!!
I'll give you a break down of the WEEK!!!We spent a day together in a theme park last week, followed by 3 days in the Lake Distrct (one of the most romantic settings in the UK) followed by a couple of days in Cardiff visiting friends. Not a peep. This is when I broke the Xmas challenge as I was making myself miserable and asked him where his head was at. It was at on Friday 'illogically scared'. He's had so many romantic opportunities... He's not even bought one. He can afford one, he knows what we do and don't like. He knows he wants to marry me. Me = not really seeing the problem. Him = scared of finally growing up.
Some nice stories in this thread too :)
@gingerlex: your trip sounds fun!! i really think that their time lines are all screwed up! it's like we think okay we're ready to get married and make this man our husband BAM let's go ring shopping. they think okay yeah i want her to be my wife... wow wife. that's a big word for four tiny letters... okay yeah this is what i want (they stay in this stage for 6 months) oh wait i have to buy a ring?! wow i'm buying a ring (another 2 months) okay seriously let me research because if i don't she's either going to kill me or leave me, so then they research and become EXPERTS on all things ring (1-2 months for researching) then they research jewelers (another month or so) then they finally buy the friggin' thing and have it come in (2 weeks to a month or more) unless it's already in the store and they just pick one. so you see we are ready and expecting it darned near a year before they even purchase it. the best thing is it burns a hole in their pockets and they go insane for it and are incredibly excited to finally give it to us and we get it in a week. in the meantime we are just pissed and ready to walk away but we can't because we love him so we're in a constant state of insanity (should i stay or should i go, like the song)... and by the time they give us the ring we're like this picture the entire time, until they propose then it melts away and we're in bliss and can barely remember the time when we weren't engaged

Is it really wierd that i am quite excited to check Weddingbee on a Monday morning because im hoping that SOMEONE got engaged?
Not that it needs to be the weekend for a proposal :-)
I feel like we are a bit of a team here and i just get really excited everytime someone gets engaged!!
Good news for me is that my Dad was actually home on the weekend (they have been sailing from San Francisco to Sydney, Australia - a WAY too long story) and my boyfriend has been a bit wierd, I know he is SUPER nervous about asking him, but he hasnt been here so he couldnt! Mum and Dad are only back for a week, so not much time! And of course i am spending all this time with them, so not much opportunity for him to ask. They are back completely in December, so im guessing he will probably wait until then to ask, so i wont know!
Who else has some good news?
