NOBODY is in the office! I don't have enough vacation to take today off like everybody else I work with. It's so quiet and I have nothing to do, really. But I get Dec 24-Jan 3 off (paid vacation) so I shouldn't complain.
Is it 3:30pm yet? Or 11am so I can go out for pho' for lunch?
It's dead here too. AND I have to work tomorrow. AND Monday. Ughhhh.
Not looking forward to crawling up the Thruway tomorrow after work to get to my parents'!
Also, pho? So jealous! Around my office is a culinary wasteland.
Dead here too! Unfortunately I work in HR so even if I had vacation time, year end is too important to us. We are having pizza lunch today and exchanging Secret Santa gifts. Come on 4:30!!!
pho! get pho! i'm with hotchild, my office building locale is seriously lacking in lunch options.
i got done with some big projects in the past week, so i'm just not doing much at work today because i'm leaving this afternoon for the holidays. geez i hope no one at work reads this.
I work in a hotel, so you can imagine how dead we are.
As a manager, I am required to work either Thanksgiving or Christmas, and this year, it is Christmas, so I work Monday-Friday this week.
Ugh. Yep, dead here too. I work at a University and grades were due yesterday. So, no faculty, no students (they had to be out of the dorms last friday) and almost no staff. Except me, with my no-vacation-time since I had to go and get married a few months ago. ;)
I just finished my shift at 0700 and I have to say - it was ridiculous. The longest 9 hours I've been through in a long, long time.
I've been not focused all week. Urgh. But we get out today at 1pm, 4 days off, 2 days on, 5 days off. Thank the lord. I've been in a funk this month and am really looking forward to coming in refreshed in January.
I am supposed to be at work but my boss is living it up in the Caribbean so I am coming in late. Right now I'm in my PJs watching Regis & Kelly.
You all read my mind!!! I can't wait until 4:30 to go home and then head to my parent's house for CHRISTMAS!!!!!!
And I'm trying to save my vacation time for my wedding/honeymoon in September.
I'm in the office today and there are very few people here. We've all got tomorrow through Jan 3rd off, and the clock today just ain't moving fast enough!!!
I am in the office today and it's dead. I am under huge deadlines and my boss sucks!
Oh trust me, this pho place is like, 20 minutes away. We're all taking long lunches because it's our last work day and it's so slow. Only two or three of us have had it before so we're trying to convince our other midwestern coworkers to try it.
A big bowl of hot steamy noodle and beefy goodness sounds amazing--it's like 45 outside but it's rainy and gross. Perfect!
I feel bad for even complaining when most of you have to work near the holidays!
@said8me, any chance you work in the aerospace industry? Everything is notoriously shutting down for everybody I know in that industry...it seems like few other industries shut down for such a long time over the holidays.
At least you're not running around like a mad woman! I work with my fam. and this time of year it's REALLY dead - so I've been doing a lot of sitting around, BUT HEY! At least we got WEDDINGBEE!
UHG! HELP ME! We get paid vacation 25th-3rd though, and I'm saving my regular vacation days for the wedding/honeymoon. It's just totally boring today.

@Mary Jane - I work at that other Univ down the road. No students, no faculty, no staff around. Dead.
They need to create a *like* button on weddingbee, I'm so used to FB now that everytime I read a comment I like I'm looking for the freakin button!
OMG - I'm dying and I've only been here 30 minutes! And I have to work tomorrow (huge event) and my day starts at 6am. And no, that's not when I have to get up, it's when I have to be where I need to be, all pretty and ready to be interviewed. I'm tired just thinking of it.
It's absolutely dead. And pointless. Why are we even here??
We're closing at 2 today, and we're closed tomorrow and friday, so I guess I shouldn't complain.
I am jealous of you ladies that have a vacation between Christmas and New Years, though!
I work at a University and finals were over on the 18th and dorms closed 19th. It is so quiet. I work in an office of 10 (including myself) and 2 people are out, 2 are leaving at noon...they are dropping like flies! I am saving my vacation time and working tomorrow (but leaving at 2). SOOOO bored. At least I brought Elf in today and we are setting up a projection screen in our conf. room to watch this afternoon. Thankfully I get paid holiday Dec 25-Jan 3rd!
I work for a government contractor and all my work is editing/formatting what others write. Thus, I have nothing to do for about 3 + weeks. Timesheets will be fun.
year end is absolutely crazy here... but, luckily i got all of my proposals out on time or early!
today is just time to get ahead on january's workload, so i don't dream about work during my 'staycation'... paid vacay christmas eve - january 3rd! woO! :D
and i just told the girls we should go out for thai at lunch.
i hope this day flies by!

****Raises Hand & Lowers Head**** lol I'm @ Work. We are unfortunatly not off today. & have a 1/2 day tomorrow. But I am taking the AM off tomorrow so I only have to use 4 hours vacation instead of 8 to get the day off. It's kind of pointless because like most of you; Our office is DEAD!!! Oh My.... The gov is taking a half day, so we are too. Well I think we are, no one has actually said anything.. haha
Pretty quiet here too. I have to work tomorrow too! Only 4 hours though, and then we are leaving for Ohio and the wedding!!!! After tomorrow noon CST, I probably won't get back on here until after the honeymoon!!!!
All I can think about is turkey, stuffing and all the wrapping I have to do still! Boooooo to work!

One of the benefits of working from home and for yourself is that though I am working today, it is in my pajamas while watching a movie and eating leftover pizza.. but the downside is that I would LOVE to take today off, but I have too much to do :)
I'm with ya! I dont have the vacation time to take off (luckily I have a floating holiday tomorrow), so I'm stuck here while most everyone else is off!
We're kind slow here too! Don't get off til 5 but i also have paid vakay from Dec24th-Jan4th so i can't complain either!!
Yeah it's pretty dead here as well, which I actually enjoy because no one bugs me. In theory we are supposed to get a half day today (we always do before the holidays) but no one has said peep about it yet so I'm getting worried. Honestly, I might just leave if we aren't given the half day bc that's total BS. We always get half day before holidays and I've kind of planned accordingly.
I have tomorrow and Christmas off, then New Years Day off. And that's it. Grr.
It's not too dead here, but everyone seems to be panicking to get things done before Christmas so that's probably why. I have work to do but I am just not in the mood to do it! I'm here tomorrow for a 1/2 day, and then I am off until January 4th!!! :)
Dead dead dead here to. I work at a construction site and almost ALL our workers are from another part of the country so they all took off for home and there is barely a skeleton shift working. No one is being productive but since I am payroll I am stuck here crunching numbers while I listen to the few that are hear laugh and goof off in the hallway. As for culinary wastelands, I am right there with you, its such a pain to leave the job site because of security and if you dnt bring your lunch you get to choose from the "roach coach" and I hate that name.
@MissASB: Not me! I'm the "newest" of the group this year so I got stuck on all the holidays! Even my boss is going to be out!
it's dead here too. what's most frustrating to me is that all of our execs "work from home" (which really means they might check their email once) and don't even bother using their vacation hours - so even though our office is open, there's nobody here. i don't have enough vaca time to take off. annd i work next week too. *sigh*
UPDATE: we do NOT have a half day, which is total bulls**t because never, in the FOUR YEARS I have worked here, have we not had a half day before a major holiday. Never. I'm livid and I'm just going to leave when I feel like it. The HR woman isn't even here today, nor is my boss or any of the department heads. Ef this.
It's pay day for our temps today, so it should be busy. I do get the afternoon off, yay! But we're open tomorrow morning until noon (for all the temps that don't get their checks today). ;)
Dead here too - it sucks, we (by we, I mean *I*) got a HUGE project to do, which I'm still working on. I had the vacation time to use, but need to stay to work on this. (And play on weddingbee, natch!)
I will be having a half-day tomorrow though, which I'm totally looking forward to!
MMMM Pho, I'm jealous! We don't have much for options, even bad ones, near work.
