Oooh agreed, I love that show! I really like the Tuscan villa ones with the amazing views over rolling hills and the gorgeous houses that look like they're about to tumble down. I just want to get in them and fix them up! I also loved one I saw I think in Costa Rica or somewhere like that. HUGE properties with gorgeous views over the ocean. Very tropical. I love ones with courtyards. I so wish we could do that one day...
YES! You know that they play them on hulu? I was stoked when I saw that. I just recently go into it, after I found out about our move. Ive been stalking any episodes about england.
@Bakerella: Oh didn't see the Tuscany villas but I'd be all over that! Dang. I wish I'd seen it. I also love to see different styles from around the world.
@Zippylef: ooooh thanks Zippy! Will go there and try to find some good episodes!
I think another reason it's fun is to see how other cultures/countries build their homes. There was an episode, think it was in Norway, and found out they don't use air conditioning. Or have disposals in the kitchen sinks.
It's just so neat to see how everybody else gets along around the world!
One episode that blew my mind was about Paris. I love love love Paris, but to buy a lovely condo there, you'd have to be a millionaire, and possibly make that a multi-millionaire. Seems to be quite expensive there.
@bellenga: Garbage disposals aren't really common here in Canada either. I'm terrified of them! Did you see the Oprah when she was in Sweden and went to see someone's tiny little house/condo? It was so neat! I'd love to see a HHI episode in somewhere like Bali where the traditional building construction is so different than the North American way. That would be AMAZING.
@Bakerella: ha ha! Youve got company on the terrified of disposals..My boston terrier always barks whenever we turn on the garbage disposal. I think he thinks there's a growling monster who's invisible in the kitchen!
Ooooh Bali. I'd love it! I'd also love to see India and Hawaii and more more more on Belize. (I daydream about that place) and Puerto Rico (another fave of mine). maybe even St. Lucia or Barbados and Bahamas too? Oh heck. Throw in Jamaica.
Make that the entire Caribbean!
I LOVE that show and my hubby thinks I'm nuts! (Although it seems he's starting to get hooked too, hee-hee)
I saw today's too, how the heck is a 3o year old lawyer spending between 2 and 3 MILLION USD in Costa Rica?!?!?!?
My favorites are the really low budget carribean shoppers because I like to dream that someday we'll buy a condo in Turks and Caicos or somewhere.....
My FI and I watch this show all the time! I loved the episode where the family was looking for a house in Brittany, France. All the homes they showed were gorgeous (and cheap--like $250,000 for HUGE places).
We watch this show too!!! I like seeing how much they get for their money!

I do not know why but this is now one of my favorite shoes. Maybe it's because it give you that escapist, run away to a far away destination feel, or it's because I'm nosy and like to see what houses cost in other countries I'd live to visit or have visited but I LOVE that show!
This morning over a cup of coffee, I was drooling over the three vacation properties the cute 30 yo lawyer dude was looking over in Costa Rica.
DH even looked at the show today (he doesn't usually watch) and was totally in agreement with the guy on the show. He said "that guy is on target. he's made some good points." Maybe he'll start watching with me :)
Any of you really into that show? If so, where were your favorite home-buying destinations?
