It was a little slow to me!  Those dudes were super creepy.

@BellaDee:  Its possible that they didn’t want to overdo the gore. Too much desensitizes you to it and lessens the impact it makes over the course of the show.

Haven’t seen episode 2 yet, but I found the twins in episode 1 to be SO creepy – possibly more disturbing than some of the gore in the first season. You can’t get much creepier than lying in bed talking to the corpse of the girl you just murdered.

@BellaDee:  I know!!! I actually found that to be more disturbing than the gore (and it almost seemed like something out of a Poe story)! Just goes to show that mentally messing with people can be just as horrifying as the gore can be.

@LoggerHead91207:  I agree, I think they are taking a more psychological angle…. That stuff freaks me out much more than any gore!

@LoggerHead91207:  they are really playing up the suspense too. I was so worried the whole episode about what happened to the kid!! And there were a couple times where I thought they were going to show it and I kept shutting my eyes because I didn’t want to see! I was so relieved when they found him alive. I can’t do the violence against kids thing, even it it’s just on TV.

@FutureMrsT1221:  The psychological aspect is much more in line with the base core of Poe’s stories. To be honest, there really isn’t an overabundance of gore in them – a lot of slasher films today would make Poe’s stories look like a Disney movie. The reason why the stories still terrify people today is because of the suspense and psyhological aspects of the stories – with Poe anything is possible and that is what makes it so scary.

I love the fact that they seem to be honoring the general feel of Poe’s stories in that way.

Ah ok I scrolled to the end to reply because I didn’t watch last night’s episode yet. I only started watching the show last week and I got through all 15 episodes really quick, and it was great timing for season 2 to start!
