So I am thinking about changing my career path, even though I am almost done with my journalism degree. Obstetrics have interested me for a long time and I think I would really enjoy being an obstetric sonographer. I was wondering if anyone in the hive is in this field? How did you get into it? What it is like? How do you like it?

I work witha lot of them. They love it. One area that is paid very well is vascular. I have two friends who work in vascular (one specialty area of ultrasound) and they love it! Here in atl it’s 60k and above.
My friends in general ultrasound love it but get overworked but money is good for them too. If you work in a hospital you also take call and that’s more money.

Thanks, bellenga! The money is great, especially compared to what I would make working in something journalism related, but really I am interested in it because it would be a way to work in obstetrics without having to go to medical or nursing school. I also feel like it would be easier to come home on time and leave work at work. Journalism is NOT like that and I am looking for a more balanced life… so yeah, not as much about money as it is about lifestyle.
