Weddingbee boards

Okay - Port Orchard is my hometown and I basically spent my childhood at this park.  So let me give you a few bullet points of the cons I can think of - I'm sure you already know the pluses of being on the water there, its lovely and wooded, and really unique as it truly is an old fort warehouse.

* Loud sounds BOOM.  And, not really in a good way, at least not in my opinion. I think this place would be a bit of an acoustic struggle if you were using equipment, so check with your vendor or a local vendor who has used the place.

* Lighting.  Ask if there is lighting in the rafters and factor in how that might affect your plans.  I can't recall if there is lighting inside since they revamped the park, but when I was a kid this park closed at dusk and before that it was very dark inside this building because of the lack of sunlight.  Even with the large openings, it can be very shadow filled.

* Picnic tables.  The interior of this building used to be filled with wooden picnic tables.  If you intend to use it and the tables are in there, you will need to make arrangements to have them removed - Again, ask the state parks department.

* Heating.  Even in September, the weather can be really unpredictable in Western Washington.  If it is cold/overcast or pouring rain, you could end up soggy and freezing.  The rain will pour in through the arches, leaving you a serious situation.

I hope this helps from a realistic standpoint.  I'm sorry to sound so dreary, but if I were you and thought this was a viable option, I would want an honest opinion.  :(  Good luck!
