I have had a constant sore throat for the past week and a half and I was thinking about going to a CVS minute clinic to get it checked out. I just moved back to this area so I don’t have a regular doctor yet and I want to get this checked ASAP. I saw on CVS’s website that they can administer strep tests so I’m sure they’ll be able to help me.
I was just wondering if anyone had been to one. Thoughts? Positives/negatives? Thanks a lot in advance!

@MrsZynxy: Yes, they’re super convenient for things like that and the prices are affordable. Hope you feel better!

@MrsWBS: Thanks so much! I have insurance so I guess I have nothing to lose by giving it a try!

I tried recently but they didn’t accept my insurance and referred me to urgent care. I went once on my other insurance, liked the convenience.

@MrsZynxy: I’ve gone a few times when I didn’t want to wait for an appointment at my regular doctor. They were great.

The Minute Clinics are staffed by either Advanced Practice Nurses or Physician’s Assistants. They are perfectly capable of treating you and I wouldn’t hesitate to go to one. (I’m a health professional too)

I love them! I tend to go to them when I have colds and other minor illnesses. To be honest, I sometimes think the care I get there is better than my doctor’s office.

I went once for strep throat symptoms (throat so sore I couldn’t eat, red, pain ect.) and they did the strep throat test. It came up negative, but they still gave me antibiotics because I had all the symptoms. Worked in a day =)

Yep been to the Minute clinic several times. My insurance plan is an HRA (which means my employer pays the first $400 of any bills) however with Minute Clinic they had me pay the fee and then my insurance actually sent me a check for that amount so they paid but not til down the road.

I have, I had a sore throat that turned out to be an abcess. They sent me to the ER – they can’t deal with serious issues like that. It was a bit frustrating!
But otherwise, I had a good experience with them.
