Lauren267:  yes, my mother gave me away. My father passed away when I was 13. It was a sweet moment.

I gave my mom and sister a charm to attach to their bouquet that had a picture of my dad in it, and I made one for myself too

My mom walked me down the aisle – my father died when I was 21- I didn’t like the idea of being given away so she “presented” me but its pretty much the same difference 🙂 it was sweet

Lauren267:  OP that is pretty much my EXACT situation, all the way down to presents to Mom on Father’s Day.

Wow, I love this idea for you! I had thought about doing it too because I’m so close to my mom. But it would really hurt my dad’s feelings and he’s not a bad guy, just not as involved as my mom was. But in your case I say heck yes!

My mom did, I can’t imagine anyone else giving me away. 🙂  My dad and I are not close and haven’t been for many years and he chose not to attend our wedding.

My mom walked me down the aisle, even though my dad was there. My dad wasn’t in my life very much and my mom has always been there for me. It was tough to tell him, but I wouldn’t have had it any other way.

I was given away by my mom and grandma, they both walked me down the aisle 🙂 I haven’t spoken to my father since I was a young teen and he was not invited to the wedding.

My mum will be. While I’ve got closer to my dad in the last few years, they’ve been divorced for the last 20. She’s the most parent I’ve got!

My wedding won’t be for another 2-5 years but one thing I am positive about is that my mother is absolutely walking me down the aisle. I am totally hers to “give away!” My parents divorced when I was 10 and she’s been the strongest single mother I’ve known. I’ve had a few uncles that have volunteered over the years but I don’t feel like it has to be a man or a father figure. I’m an only child and my mom and I are best friends. My dad and I are not on bad terms but we’re also not super close at all (they live 3,000 miles away). I will invite him and his wife though since he always asks if I’m engaged yet each year he calls on my birthday.
