I just want to know how long it take from trying the dress on until you receive it (after all alterations). My story is, my Fiance and I plan to have a very simple wedding either in Hawaii or Banff so I thought I would just have a very simple wedding dress. I found Lightinthebox website and ordered a dress. However, after that (it should be have before!) I read a lot of bad reviews and now I’m getting worried whether I will ever get my dress or it would look as nice as in the website’s picture. So my backup plan is a David’s Bridal boutique that just opened here in Winnipeg. My dress from LITB is supposed to be shipping on April 21 so I expect it to arrive on April 30 the latest. If the dress didn’t turn out nice, I would have to start shopping for another one. We plan to get married around the 4th week of July. Do you think I will have enough time to get another wedding dress at David’s Bridal if I start shopping around May?

my DB dress came in in 9 days. I’m having it altered elsewhere so I can’t answer that part.

I got mine in about 3 weeks, they told me it would take 4 months. 🙂 Alterations took another 30 days, but you can pay extra to rush it or take it elsewhere.

I believe mine arrived within 2 weeks of ordering it. I didn’t have it altered at DB either though. There’s no way I would have trusted them with my dress after the fiasco I went through to just buy my darn dress!

@yellowshoe: what happened??

@Nat_can: Some dresses come in really fast and some (the Vera’s) can take up to 6 months. DB has a cash-and-carry business model and will only order a dress for you if they don’t have your size or color (ivory, white, blush, etc). I don’t know how fast the gowns are arriving in Canada, but your consultant wil be able to look up lead times. There’s no guarantee that the dress will be cut-for-you new because that’s not how their business model works.
If you’re very worried about your LITB gown, I’d schedule an appointment just to see what your options are.

@Colieee34: Did you buy a dress and it hasn’t come in or you are still looking?

I’ve heard nothing but good things about DB. That’s the first place I’m going to look when I go dress shopping this summer. I’ve been eyeing the Vera Wang collection from DB, so gorgeous!

The women I know that got their dresses from DB got them in 2-3 weeks. Of course, there are always exceptions, but they do seem to be fast.

If you need extra length (aka an alteration that can’t be done elsewhere) it will take longer from DB.

I got mine in the two minutes it took the consultant to walk to the back room and get it! They keep a lot of gowns in stock, so if you’re REALLY pressed for time, you could tell them “look, I wear a size __ so please only show me gowns that you have in stock in that size!” and you’ll walk out of there with a dress the same day you try it on 🙂

I ordered mine and it was in like 2 weeks later…in fact, I plan to go back and see if I fit in a smaller size so I can re-order the smaller size to save on alterations costs since I’m losing weight!

fingers crossed for your lightinthebox dress. We ordered our Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses from them and they turned out great! I was worried about the reviews too at first so we just ordered one dress to see what happened. overall i was really happy with it so all my girls purchased their gowns seperately from LITB – they all recieved them in a reasonable manner and they quality was really great – i was actually pleasently surprised by how well they were made. I actually wore it to a black tie wedding in december. Reviews are scary! I had a good experience with them but i’m only one person.
