We did A LOT of research for DJs and hopefully ALL of our phone calls and meetings with them can help you. They all had roughly the same pricing and each offered something different from one another. You can expect to pay around $150-250/hour for a good DJ company, depending on how popular and busy they are.

A few that we looked into:

  1. Liquid DJs – the most expensive
  2. DJ Mike E Simms
  3. Bitton Events – the one we chose
  4. Dj Jonny 5 – not what we were looking for
  5. DJ Hurricane Rey – Didn’t like their overall appearance

Some questions you should ask:

  1. Does the company have more then 1 DJ (in case of an emergency?)
  2. Do they have liability insurance? (our venue required it and some didn’t)
  3. Any videos/pictures/testimonials to look at?
  4. Do they provide lighting, what kind? Is there an extra cost?
  5. Do they provide speakers/wireless microphone/iPod for the Wedding Ceremony and Cocktail Hour? If so, how much extra?
  6. How many music requests do they let you send to them in advance?
  7. How does their overall DJ booth and appearance look? Any pics?
  8. Do they have a contract that protects you in case they don’t show up or play the songs you want?
  9. How early do they arrive to setup their equipment before the Wedding?
  10. Will they be making all the announcements (will their DJ be the MC also or do they bring someone else?)

Hope this helps!

@jscalardi:  Thank you for sharing all your research on the Bee, it is very helpful for us Miami bees who are feeling a little overwhelmed with planning right now πŸ™‚

Why did you decide to go with the DJ company that you chose?? That is going to be one of our biggest decisions for our reception, and one of the areas that we wouldn’t hesitate to splurge in as needed!

@kestane: Well, we were able to meet our DJ on Skype and we really liked his vibe, experience, and knowledge in comforting us on the right song choices and other areas. They always answered us immediately (which is definitely what us Brides need!), and they were very friendly and willing to help with anything we needed. Aside from that, they had great reviews, pictures, and videos online and their prices were still very competitive and lower then some of the other vendors.

Our Wedding was only 10 days ago and we couldn’t have been any happier with how the DJ and our other vendors worked out for us. It was the perfect Wedding I had always envisioned and we’re so happy we did our thorough research before.

I highly recommend getting to know your vendors well so you don’t have to worry and can just relax and trust them knowing they’re the best professionals possible. We used the following:

@jscalardi:  Thanks! We’ll look into Bitton Events over the next few weeks or so πŸ™‚
