I am having a Fall themed wedding! I just LOVE Fall colors...so I have decided to take on the task of DIY caramel candy apple favors!! I have figured out what local store I need to go to, to get supplies...but I am stumped on what to sprinkle on tip of them. I am having 50 ppl or less & I am going to do 60(I think) to be safe. So I was thinking of maybe doing 15 w/ nuts, 15 w/ some type of fall colored sprinkles & I was maybe thinking of doing 15 w/ crushed up Heath bars..kind of stumped on what to do w/ the last 15. Any ideas of what to use for toppings...or anyone who has done these favors & what you topped yours w/??!?!?!

@LissaBell86: I think that's a great idea, but I would just leave the last 15 bare, if it were me doing it. I love carmel apples, but not necessarily with things sprinkled on them.

@CarolinaCola: Lol...I didn't even think of leaving some plain for the ppl who just like plain caramel candy apples & that will make a little less work for my Mother & I! Thanks!!

I want to do caramel apple favors too!! I was afraid that leaving them plain would make them stick to the wrap too much. Also, I saw a website with ideas for mini caramel apples that I'm thinking of trying too! We'll have ~150 guests, so I thought making all those apples might be too much work and too messy. What is your plan?

I vote plain as well, I would like the option... although the others sound very tasty!

BIL and SIL had caramel apples as their favors. They did not have any toppings on them. They got them done at a bakery by their house for really cheap. Most places wanted $3/apple but she got them for $1/apple. She made stickers that said their name and date and stuck it on the plastic. It was a big hit!

@sweetcV2B:  I'm not really sure yet..but I have about 60 to do. I know Walmart has a bag of the caramel cubes that you can melt (makes 5 caramel apples) & it includes 5 sticks...it's like $2.38 a bag! I know I am going to look to find apples somewhere other than the grocery store b/c have said the wax that the store puts on them messes with the caramel sticking to the apple. I am thinking about buying a little candy warmer thing (not sure what it's called) instead of heating the caramel in the microwave!

I would say don't worry about putting anything on them! I would only want sprinkles (I HATE nuts! lol!) but maybe you can include little pouches or bowls at the tables of differnt kinds of toppings so that if they do want some, they can add it themselves?
