Just make sure they know to take them! I know I wouldn't assume they were favors unless it were painfully obvious.
Our favors will be part of the tablescape, providing an interesting visual spot at each place setting, but not the actual centerpiece.
yes, there will be a thank-you attached to the pot somehow indicating that they are to take them or....kraft paper gift bags with a thank-you note stamped on them for guests to put the pots into at the end of the day (maybe these will be at their place-settings)

I'm considering having mini pots (2in.) of herbs/potted flowers at the placecard table (placecards will be plant markers stuck in the pots) that guests will take to the table and place on a charger plate in the center of the table to create the centerpieces during the reception. Then, they take their mini pots home with them as the favor.(outdoor casual/picnic style reception)
Will this work?? I saw on Martha Stewart Wedding website that she had potted plants as centerpieces and suggested sending them home with guests as favors. I figure if Martha suggests it, it must be good! :)
