lynzietru:  I am!  I used my engagement photos as my trial basically.  I use HD Make-Up Forever foundation and powder (from Sephora), Bare Minerals bronzer and blush, and BeneFit mascara.  I bought the Make-Up Forever concealer but found that it didn’t last long and I didn’t see much of a difference between that and the ELF concealer from Target that only costs $1.  I have a couple eye powder palettes that I also got from Sephora but blanking on the brand.  It all turned out well in the photos except my eyelashes got lost so I will be adding a false set for the wedding day.  Good call on the UD setting spray – love that stuff! ETA: Also, I brush everything on.  EVERYTHING.  Not sure if you already do that or not, but if not I recommend investing in a foundation brush.  It gives a super smooth finish and doesn’t look cakey at all.  And, doesn’t have the waste of a sponge since it won’t absorb your makeup.

lynzietru:  Hi there! I did my own makeup. I went to Sephora and had the girl do a trial on me, mainly so I could find a really nice foundation that matched my complexion. The All-Nighter is a great product! I used that for my setting spray but I also used setting powder too.

What you’ll need:

Moisturizer

Primer

Foundation

Blush/Bronzer

Eye Shadow

Liner

Mascara

Setting Powder

Setting Spray

Lip Stain/Stick/Gloss

I used Korres Greek Yoghurt primer, Makeup HD Forever foundation and setting powder (Don’t use anything with SPF for pro pics!), Bare Minerals Bronzer and Blush, Urban Decay Naked Palette for eye shadow, a black liquid liner (can’t remember the brand), Diorshow Waterproof Mascara, and Urban Decay All-Nighter setting spray.

Oh! And I totally recommend the Beauty Blender Ball from Sephora if you use liquid foundation! That thing is awesome and gives you an airbrush look finish!

I am not doing my own makeup BUT invest in a good makeup setting spray! I really think it makes a huge difference. I have really oily skin and most times my makeup is off by the end of the day. If i spray it a few times in the morning, my makeup is still on when I leave work, and looks just as good!

I’m doing my own makeup plus my mom’s.  I have all the products anyway because I am a makeup junkie.  Although I have been having a tough time finding the perfect lip colour, that’s all I need to purchase.

I am using the following products (and use them frequently when I do my own makeup day to day)

Probably Monistat anti-chaffing gel as primer

Makeup Forever HD foundation and concealer

Urban Decay Naked loose powder

Bourjois bronzer

Nars blush and highlighter (came together in a pallete)

Too Faced Shadow insurance

Urban Decay Naked pallete

Makeup Forever liquid liner and Urban Decay pencil liner

Urban Decay setting spray

then maybe Urban Decay lip liner/lipstick but I need to go check out the colour in person to see if it is right

I second the Beauty Blender! It gives a wonderful airbrushed look. I bought a foundation brush and stippling brush to apply foundation, but found that neither of them surpass the Beauty Blender. Definitely worth the $20 (mine is still good after 2 years, with washing before I use it every time).

In addition to the products others have mentioned, you should invest in a matte bronzer or foundation approx 3 shades darker than your natural skin tone to contour your face. It really gives it definition in photos!

Other products I have been loving lately:

– MAC Mineralize blush in ‘Dainty’ from the Spring collection (apply with a duo fiber brush)

– Bare Minerals Mineral Veil in the golden color- helps diffuse light, set foundation, and gives skin a wonderful glow

I did! So happy I did, it turned out fantastic, I looked like me and several people have been completely shocked that I didn’t use a pro.

I definitely recommend that setting spray, it’s fantastic. I used the Urba Decay de-slick as well – both before and after all the makeup. My face was flawless for 12+ hours, even with wild dancing. I just blotted with those oil blotting papers a couple times late at night and that was it.

I used Smashbox photo finish primer and MUFE HD foundation. Loved them both.

Lasltly, if you’re doing false eyelashes, I loved the cheapie Quo ones I get from the drugstore. I trimmed them so they only covered about half of my eye, and used the shorter end meant for the inner eye and they blended perfectly without looking fake. I also really liked the dark glue versus the clear stuff.

lynzietru:  I did my own. With all the makeup I have it would have been preposterous to pay someone else to do it. A few rules of thumb:

Matte looks best in pictures. You don’t want your face to look greasy.

Apply a little heavier than normal. Fine details won’t show up in pictures.

Don’t overdo it with the lip products. You will be kissing your groom in front of a lot of people. You don’t want to gross him out with your goopy lip gloss.

I’m planning to do my own 🙂 Hair, too! Haven’t done an official trial yet, but I’ve experimented and am not too picky.
