I know that the materials used in the dress can effect whether it came be nicely dyed or not. I was going to dye an old cute styles bridesmaids dress from yellow to red but upon researching the dresses materials I found out it couldn’t be properly dyed. Just makes sure the msterial the dress is made out of can be dyed if that’s the sole reason for purchasing  the dress, good luck!

@deedeelicious:  Generally speaking, you can dye fabric darker, not lighter. In order to change color from mint or blush to ivory, you woould first have to use a color remover, (there is no guarantee that is going to work), then dye the dress ivory.

Fabrics and trims also accept dye at different rates.

I wouldn’t try it. Surely you can find a similar style in ivory?
