I was seriously addicted to Diet Coke! My mom raised me on it, citing it as "healthy" and by the age of 13 I was overweight and drinking 4 Diet Cokes a day. I cut it out cold turkey (all other pop, as well, but I didn't drink much of other kinds) and lost a bunch of weight. Like, 15 lbs or more. I felt soooo much better, and when I take a sip accidentally I now hate it. But those first few days going off of it, I got crazy caffeine headaches and was so grumpy.

I go through phases where I am addicted to it for a few weeks, then it goes away.

It bugs me to think what it does to my teeth though!

I love soda! Specially Coke! I hate all diet soda, and wish I would drink more water. But I love the bubbles, the taste, specially when it’s really cold, and the there is so much carbonation that it burns when you take your first sip. Mmmmm!

Regular Coca-Cola?  If so have you tried Coke Zero.

Do you get frequent head aches?

Many people addicted to Cola are addicted to the caffeine.  If you like the caffeine try tea... it does not have any sugar.  If it is the cola you like then try caffeine free.

Never tried Coke Zero but I hear ya on the regular Coke.  Although I'm not addicted, I love a good ol' chilled bit of it sometimes.  I guess a way to maybe help you back off of it, remember what it can do to a car battery and then think of what it can do to the color of your teeth????  Not sure if that will help.  I know I need to eat healthier in general and I still love me a Chili Frito Pie from Sonic :o

I love love love coke (the original not diet not zero etc etc!)! I wouldn't say I'm addicted though. I refuse to let myself buy it at the grocery store and I get it at restaurants maybe about 50% of the time (and only eat out at most 1-2 times/week). So yea its terrible for you... but I probably have it 5 or less times/month.

I used to drink a Coke Zero everyday, but now it's flavored seltzer.  I like black cherry and rasberry lime!

I will miss Coke when I'm pregnant. yeah, I know I can drink caffeinne free but it tastes different.

FI jokes that my family and I keep Coke in business. There is NEVER Pepsi at my family's house!!

I really like regular Coke, it is really yummy! I had to quit drinking it because I had a stomach ulser, which was real sad. I refuse to drink anything diet anymore becuase it is loaded with fake sugar. I'm just nerveous about what that fake sugar could do to my health over time. I know that the real sugar isn't good for you either but in small amounts it is ok.

I'm addicted to Diet Coke.  So much so that my co-workers notice if I haven't opened one by about 9:30 a,m.  So much so that if I have only one or two cans left at home, I feel VERY uncomfortable.

The weird thing is, I don't think it's the caffeine that I'm addicted to (though I may be fooling myself). I sometimes get caffeine-free and am ok with that.  I just don't like it quite as much because I don't think it tastes quite the same.  I can also get that uncomfortable feeling when there is a whole case of regular Coke in the house...I NEED the Diet Coke.

I was definitely! I used to crave it first thing in the morning. It was REALLY hard to curb it. Coke Zero is the only thing I've ever tasted that satisfies me the same way regular coke does.

ETA - Definitely can. It just tastes better. I love how it burns going down. That's how you know it's working. rofl

I love coca cola!  I have it at breakfast, lunch, and at dinner..and of course I have it for the 10+ hours i'm sitting down infront of a computer at work.  And it has to be the original, I hate diet and other variations, they taste way too sweet.  Giving it up is always my new year's resolution, and I fail miserably.

I made it a point to visit the coca cola factory in Atlanta when I lived in Augusta, GA and I got a picture of me drinking a coke with Coke's founder infront of the factory. :)  I know, I'm a nerd.

I used to be totally addicted to Diet Coke, but I was getting really bad migraines, and cut it out of my diet and my headaches went away. Now I don't eat/drink anything with Aspertame.

Only problem is, I really love soda! So I started drinking regular Coke, which I know is horrible for me calorie wise and overall health wise.

Then the Beverage Gods answered my prayers and brought me several soda options without calories or Aspertame!

    For Example:

    Diet Coke w/Splenda

Zevia Soda (My FAVORITE) It's made with Stevia, 0 Calories, All Natural.

Hansen's Diet Soda & BlueSky Diet. All Natural, but sadly no-caffiene.

Okay who else lol'd at the title of this thread.

I honestly find Coke to be the nastiest of all sodas, it is not for me.  I stopped drinking commercial/cheap HFS/aspartame/whatever-filled sodas at age 13 and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.  I occasionally have an organic soda and can't palate an all-natural cola even.  Makes me gag.

There are few things worse for you than regular Coke.  The carbs and sugar in that drink and other sodas can cause a girl to get fat really fast if she is drinking multiple per day.

Diet soda isn't all that much better with the aspartame as ILikePink mentions too, but at least you aren't going to balloon up.  Studies have shown though that carbonated soda drinks cause cellulite.

Have you ladies addicted to these drinks ever had Pelligrino water or another NATURAL sparkling water? I'm not talking about the zero calorie flavored sodar water.  I kicked my diet coke habit by drinking Pelligrino - it's even better since its healthy with the minerals and I am getting more water that I need each day.

@Mrs. Louboutin: I am more addicted to Pellegrino than I am to anything! It's what I drink at pretty much every meal.

I also really love SmartWater. I try to be a good girl and use my Nalgene, but SmartWater just tastes so perfect.

Geez.  Coke zero rocks and I have tried hard to give it up.

Heck, it is almost futile since i live in metro ATL area, home of "World of Coca Cola"!

I am now trying to switch it to a non-carbonated addiction..."Milo's Famous Unsweet Iced Tea" (w/splenda).  Almost tastes as good as my grandma's did.

I think we need a 12 step program for this!

We could all meet me at the World of Coke, and then as a test of our willpower, we could enter the tasting room with all the coca cola softdrinks from around the world, and an endless supply of cups for us to taste with, and see who could hold out the longest without indulging.

Kinda like a far more tame version of "The Bet" on Seinfield back in the day.

All I know...I'd be shouting "I'm OOUUUT" prob within five minutes!

@bellenga: I love the World of Coke!  My family and I went to one before, maybe in Sea World?  It is so fun to try the different flavors.  I could never do that now or I would gain 10 pounds in a day.

Yes! My partner and I are both addicted to pop right now (yes, I say pop!). We only drink diet, which makes me feel a teensy bit less guilty. Diet Coke, Coke Zero, diet cherry coke, diet cherry pepsi... Mmm.

omg.. i stopped drinking coke when i was like 14 and then my fiance started drinking coke zero and of course, i hopped on his bandwagon and started drinking 1, 2, 3, 5 a day! and i thought it was fine because it doesn't have any carbs, calories, etc.. but i DEFINITELY gained weight from it.. then i googled everything i could about weight gain and diet sodas and lo and behold, you actually do gain weight from drinking sweet drinks even if they have no carbs (something about insulin).. great thing to discover 2 months before the big day lol
