OMG it was such a crappy ending!!! So disappointing.

Whats worse is that the original producer of the show that did the first 4 seasons did an interview and shared how he would have ended it. It would have been SO much better. I actually liked the potential ending he had in mind.

FH has been watching it, so I read a recap, and…. man! I’m alright with it (granted, I’m not super committed to the series) except for one thing (maybe two…).

@adoc86:  Do you have a link to that? I’d love to read it!

Go ahead and post spoliers! Anyone that hasn’t seen it yet should not being opening this anyway!

I am BEYOND disappointed!

**** POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT******* Don’t continue reading if you have yet to watch.

I guess I can understand the reasoning behind Dex not wanting to hurt the people he loves anymore and doing what he did but still makes me sad for everyone else.

And I do NOT understand the dumping of Deb. He put his “trash” there. Why would he put his sister there with them?

@adoc86:  Care to share that ending? You can PM, if you don’t want to post spoilers.

@adoc86:  Oooh, yes that’s definitely better! I love stuff that screws with your brain and makes you go, “Wait… what??” (Bioshock Infinite, anyone?). The real ending is sort of… dull… in comparison to something like that.

@Sunsetmrs13:  Exactly. Don’t get me wrong, Deb got on my nerves and she wasn’t my favorite, but really? She deserved a better resting place than that. Sharing her grave with all the scumbags that Dexter had dumped there? It really surprised me when he did that.

If he wanted to commit suicide, fine. But to dump your kid off on someone who isn’t responsible for him, then fake your death and start a secret new life? Thats more a cop out than if he had killed himself!

@adoc86:  I’m really wondering why Dex didn’t send Harrison to live with his brother and sister at their grandparents’ house. That would’ve made more sense.

Side question, did they ever explore Deb’s whole in-love-with-Dex thing properly?

@mepayne:  That’s exactly what I thought. I can only guess its because everything happened so quickly and he had originally intended on really going to Argentina. But still – at least go and pick him up and leave him with his “real” family instead of placing the burden on your girl friend. I’ve always liked Dexter, but I did think he was kind of a crummy, absentee father. He never saw that kid! Harrison just popped up here and there and when he did he was usually with the nanny.

And no. That whole random Deb-is-in-love-with-Dex-issue just kind of fizzled and disappeared.

@adoc86:  Well that’s really annoying. I loved that whole plotline idea (though it fizzling may have had something to do with Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter’s real-life divorce…). Not only is it taboo to be in love with your “brother”, but she found out like 12 seconds later that he’s a serial killer. Double taboo. Which that show usually feeds on. I would’ve liked to see Deb struggle with it and whether or not to tell him. He definitely loved her as much as he was capable of loving anyone, and it also would’ve been great to see him wonder what kind of love he was actually feeling for her.

I’m guessing that Dex felt Harrison would somehow be safer with Hannah. I was reading an interview with the writers, and they said that Hannah only kills to protect herself, and that now she’ll extend that to Harrison. But that still doesn’t quite explain Dex’s motive there. Maybe he felt he absolutely had to go into hiding immediately? And that he’d never be able to leave Harrison if he saw or spoke to him again?

@mepayne:  Dexter never reciprocated her feelings..because, you know, she was his SISTER! So that’s why it “fizzled”. Plus that’s when they introduced Hannah.

ETA: Deb DOES tell him that she love-loves him. And he is just bewildered by it.
