OMG i love the starfish cookies... are you ordering them or did you make them? What's in the bottom of the cookie that looks like sand? Brown Sugar? So cute.. Not sure why my pictures didnt' work-
I'm not having a beach wedding... but I love coastal decor!
Here are som cute ideas I found online.... =D

I plan weddings for a living in the Keys, so I've seen many of these ideas before. I just have one friendly word of warning on the seashell place card holders...the numerous times I've had brides buy them and give to me to set up, they have not worked! The slits are either not cut deep enough or not a proper angle the cards won't stand up in them. Also, if it is just slightly windy, the cards will not stay upright in them...instead they turn into sails!
My only recommendation when choosing decor for outdoor beach weddings is to think about the winds and sea breezes. Chances are it is going to be breezy in your location and you'll want your decor items to be heavy and durable enough to stand up these breezes (ie. place cards need to be weighted down, fans on the ceremony seats need to be heavy enought not to fly off, candles won't stay lit, etc).
LED candles work great! Or real candles in glass cylanders or lanterns with walls high enough to protect the wicks.
@Taricha- The bouquet and colored flowers... what type of flowers are they? I LOVE THEM! (I'm not a huge flower lover, but those are fabulous!!!)
I'm also doing a beach wedding, Haven't setteld on any particular decor, but I love some of the inspiration on this thread!!! :)
My maids and I are all making the cookies after the bridal shower. Basic sugar cookie recipe with blue icing! The sand on the bottom can be brown sugar or sugar-in-the-raw.
The bouquet and the second colored flower are orchids. I bought that bouquet for 7.99 at save-on-crafts.com. Here is a link: http://www.save-on-crafts.com/orchidbouquet2.html
Then I added a few more purple orchids, leaves on the bottom and changed the ribbon. They will be my BM's bouquets. They look spectacular. Here's a picture:

They also look greate without any adjustments but I'm not one to want to settle for simplified. The material isn''t silk, it's latex. It makes them look and feel more realisic. Can't you tell I highly reccommend them? lol!
As far as the loose purple orchids, they can be bought at fiftyflowers.com or hawaiiflowerlei.com.
I'm still a beach bride (after having to sadly cancel our destination wedding in Pensacola due to the issue w/the oil spill) and we're going to have a very very intimate destination wedding!
Our choices are narrowed down to the following locations:
We're looking at what will accomodate all three of us (my son is coming as he says he has to be there or else!) and have fun things for us to do. We've been everywhere, except for turks and caicos, so that is near the top of our list.
I'm still having a beachy reception afterward! Showing our wedding video and pictures and having the same cake I wanted and our same colorscheme!
Loving having the teeny intimate wedding without all the stress and having a fun, relaxed reception!
I've also had a change of plans, except using my friendor to make teeny bm bouquets (for the gals who were going to be the bridesmaids) and some bouts (also a single dendrobium orchid) for the guys who were to be groomsmen!
I'm ordering from 50 flowers the reception flowers and diy'ing the reception pieces! Having several nice arrangements and two larger arrangements of green dendrobium orchids and mixed with garden roses! Also adding in some green berries (hypercium) for low arrangments on tables.
I love your idea of the cookies... I think I'm gonna modify it just a bit and use white chocolate starfish.. check 'em out!

aimee, love the chocolate idea!! it actually may be more simple to DIY because all you have to do is melt the chocolate and pour it into a mold of starfish.
WOW!! What wonderful Ideas!! I am also having a beach wedding will try to post some pics soon.
i'm having a beach weddin too! i just fniished my flip flop pail and flower girl headbands today
I'm having a beach wedding as well but haven't taken photos of many of my projects yet. We're not doing tropical beach, more Nantucket than Key West if that makes sense. Shades of blues and ivory with hydrangeas, sand, starfish, flip flops and tuxes. It's a church ceremony and then ocean side reception so it's not too casual and not too formal. I've attached some inspiration photos I found online and some that were cut and pasted by me and rescanned.
We’re doing a sort of coastal beach theme (not tropical beach, but like rocky coast (?)) – if that makes sense.
Here’s our inspiration pic for our centerpieces:

The other part to our centerpieces will be glass vases filled with a bulb style candle, and chunks of seaglass and small shell (my bad mockup lol much prettier IRL!):
Our card holder is a lobster trap.
Our invitations will have starfish on them (no pic yet, but will update once we get all of our invitation pieces to assemble!) :-)
We’re getting married on an island, so we’re trying to try the rocky coast and island themes together.

These were the shower favors...sets of bamboo coasters wrapped in handmade paper, using the wedding colors.
I am having a beach wedding as well. I can't wait! Here are some things I am doing.
Hiya Ladies,
I'm new to the Hive but very much looking forward to blogging over the next year or so!!
Well i've hit the exciting stage of planning, its been my dream!!
My boyfriend and I are looking to Marry in the Caribbean December 2012. (We dont have an exact date yet but im working on it.)
We are thinking Barbados Antigua or St Lucia.
I'm loving the ideas everyone is coming up with...
I would like it to be a tropical theme, White-pink and purple orchid bouquets, same flowers flowing down the front of a white 3 tiered cake. (nothing OTT)...
I saw the idea of having coloured paper fans that fit with the theme and are great for Favours. (but i would prob leave them nicely on the seat for the ceremony so people dont get to hot!) I'm going to do my very best to upload a photo or link...
http://www.fantastica-uk.co.uk/ourshop/prod_756598-Plain-Coloured-Paper-Fans-Personalised-Handle.html I love them!!
I'm open to suggestions on everything. Our biggest thing is how to word the initial invites. As we obviously want to invite all but know most people cant afford to travel from England to Caribbean!!..... Styles of invites and wording would really help me at this stage in planning...
Many thanks
xx
Beach reception here...and I will say that I personally do not want the 'traditional' beach themes (seashells, starfish) as part of my decor. I just don't like them for myself, not my style. I am trying to do more of an 'elegant vintage seaside' wedding. Still trying to figure out how to accomplish that though, lol. Even though I don't like the traditional touches of a tropical beach wedding, I DO like nautical themed things - stripes, anchors, etc. I know that is more of a New England beach wedding, and we are doing a tropical wedding, but I think I am going to try to figure out how to incorporate them anyway.
I'm not into the whole Seashells etc either but i'm heading down the orchid bouquet path...
I like your idea of vintage seaside feel. We really dont have loads of people coming max 36. But going to have a party when we get back to celebrate!!
I dont have a colour theme either... I'm at the very start!! Everyone on here seems to have ideas already. I'm almost clueless... hahaha
Hey Girls! I am having a beach wedding in Fort Morgan Alabama In April of next year!!! I have decided i am gonna DIY the wedding with help of course with my bff.
here are some pics i saved for inspiration
