I think that’s a lovely idea.  Our venue (both ceremony and reception) provides a horse-drawn carriage that brings the bride to the ceremony site.  I didn’t know how much I’d like it, but when we visited and I saw the beautiful horses, I couldn’t wait!  I think it’s really romantic and perfect to fit with a wedding!

I have a friend who is doing it at her outdoor lake venue. She and her father will arrive in one and then process down the aisle. It’s so princessy! Go for it if you like it and you can.

We were going to, but it was too much for us to organize!

Yes yes we are!!! I am SO excited! Me & my dad are pulling up in it to the ceremony & then me & my FI are leaving after the ceremony is over. We’re making a sign that says “Just Married” and putting it on the back of the carriage. I think it’s a wonderful idea!! & you can take pictures with it after!!!

I had always dreamed of doing this since I was a little girl but it just doesn’t work with our location and budget!

I thought of it but we are doing a Hummer limo that fits up to 16 instead so all of us can ride together to the reception, how much does the horse and carriage usually cost? I love the idea! So romantic and fairy tale-ish

Make sure they treat their horses well! A lot of the city ones run them into the ground/don’t provide enough water. So sad. 🙁

@lilyfaith: You took the words right out of my mouth.  I’m against horse and carriage rides due to animal welfare issues.  This is a huge controversy in NYC right now and I’m on the side of banning them from the city.

@hotchild: same here! It’s just not right the way they treat those poor horses, and city life just isn’t how horses were meant to live. They need turnout to stretch and keep their digestive systems (and minds!) working properly.
