Well I can surely sympathise with you. Because I have been trying to figure out a date for some time and now I think it will most likely be in August which means I dont have a lot of time to plan. Not to mention that I am still in school. I dont know where to begin. But I suppose the first thing I want to do is actually pick the date so that I can talk to our priest and find out if our church is available and then find a reception venue which is also available on that date. I wanted to go dress shopping this weekend but my sister is much too busy and asked if I cant wait until December… I dont know if she will have the time then either. The time is just flying by and I know once the Christmas holidays are over I will be in exam mode preparing for finals in May so… yes I feel behind cuz I havent even started and I dont know where to begin. I cant afford a wedding planner so really its going to be and whoever can help me…

@jatelynn:  K so don’t take this the wrong way at all…please…..but I am a july bride as well and have soo much more done than you and felt like I was behind as well.  I partly think it’s normal to feel that way.  But on the other hand if you live in a place that doens’t have alot of options you may be getting yourself into trouble.  I would definately start booking and putting deposits on things.  Unless your ok with having the ceremony at the same place as your reception(would probably be good too)  But your dress!!! WOMAN get in there I put my deposit down last week and felt like I was cutting it short because alterations and all that jazz.  It’s not fun until you start to see the style that looks best on you.  I was sooo depressed the week before I found mine becuase I thought I would never have that ahah moment.  But I did and you will too.Laughing Just go do it and have fun with it.  I wouldn’t say your overly behind but I would definately get on it Smile Your lucky as well though that you are getting friends to do alot, we aren’t so lucky so we had to book and put deposits on things early because the good ones go fast where I live.

Relax and go shopping for a dress, you may not like it but it’s better than having nothing to wear on the day of lol

Save the dates, invites, etc…don’t take too much time once you find the ones you like and print them (although I literally spent 2 hours last night addressing Save the Dates). BUT OMG!! You have to do your dress NOW. I put a deposit on mine last month because I told them I was going to wait until Nov 24 to order and they just said “then I don’t think we can help you”. Dresses can take anywhere from 6-9 months, some that long JUST to order, forget about the 1 -2 months for alterations! Bridesmaid dresses shouldn’t fall too long afterwards either. It depends on where you order from, but I would REALLY get a move on ordering your dress if you don’t want to buy off-the-rack! Good luck 🙂

Yay, your wedding is on my birthday!!! 🙂

I feel behind too… More so on some days but in general yes. We still haven’t booked the ceremony space(although we do have the reception location set) I just ordered my dress Monday. We don’t have a caterer yet and our photographer just cancelled on us a couple days ago. We no longer have an officiant (was family member but learned not so pleasant things about the officiant in recent years, lots of drama so we’re on the search again) most of the things are DIY. I’m making the flowers and haven’t even finished one bouquet… You get the point…

I had a lot going on this past year as well. With a close family death, my health got bad, I’m in school FI is in school and we both work and we have a 4 year old.

But these past few weeks I’ve been making a point to do wedding things at least one thing a day. I got a wedding planner (made it myself) and things are getting closer than it seems when you look at it in print.

Seems like you have a lot figured out already, that’s definately a good start. Just keep pushing ahead on the plans and remember, the most important thing is that you are getting married, not the llittle details you likely wont remember 20 years from now. If a few things like decorations and such aren’t finished that’s ok you’re still getting married and you will still have a wonderful day

One thing that has been helping me too are my own check lists. I printed out all the online check lists but it made things easier for me to make my own lists. And with that I’ll know what to do next and how far along I am on my planning

@pinkgreenandyellow: I agree with making checklists…they help me out so much especially when you’re doing everything on your own!

I am starting to feel very behind! We got engaged 2 years ago and set a date. Then it was too early to do a lot of things, and now I feel like I have no time at all! I can’t believe it came so fast.
