Yes, yes YES! We are here for you, sistah! The hive NEVER tires of this sort of babbling. Why? Because we are in the same boat! Bring on the dresses!
YES! And my friends/sister were sick of it within the first week of my obsession. Luckily I discovered the Hive because the Bees are never sick of it. :D
Gosh, you sound like me, but don't give up, because you wouldn't want to get dress regret like I did. Even just after a month or two of dress shopping, my FI and mom were tired and just wanted me to get it over with. In some ways, I was like, oh ok, I'll just pick whatever and not bother them with it anymore, and so I agreed to just have the earlier wedding.
Big mistake.
Don't let your family/friends stop you from searching. I think that added pressure of them wishing you'd just find a dress makes it harder on you. It did on me and in the end I had big regrets of just settling for one. Just take it easy and be persistent. Best of luck to you!
Uh, yes! I'm constantly looking at designers websites and looking at all the dress posts here on the bee. Everytime FI asks what I'm looking at I'm just like, oh ya know, wedding dresses. As soon as I think I have it narrowed down and call stores they don't have the dresses in stock that I like! So frustrating! Then it's back to looking again.
Somewhere, somebody posted that "no one is as interested in your wedding as you". I know this for a fact because A)I am a mature adult B) I am a professional bridesmaid. And that is why we have WeddingBee--because other people are really interested in our wedding and we don't have to torture our family/friends. If I had a 7 year old around, I would take her to every bridal shop because she's the only one that could handle it. I love looking at dresses so keep it coming! However, I think you need to go try some on!
@Georgia Bee: Yeah but I want to try on the ones I like and I've found online. Do you think I should just go try on whatever they bring me? Maybe I should.
Thanks everyoene, at least I know I am not alone!! I will drive y'all crazy betweeen now and September so brace yourselves! ha!
@Monny: Geez, I ws hoping there was an end in sight! I'm hoping that when I get mine I can move on to other wedding things that I'm totally ignoring! lol! I will have school too though so I need to get busy.
@sillykar: Well I know my FI is excited for me in the dress process but has no clue really and thinks EVERYTHING is awesome. My brother ges the same answer when he calls and asks what I'm doing.. "Looking at dresses! What else!?"
the ressure is coming from ME because I know how long I have to decide and it's only until around the 1st of September which causes me to panic.
@Laura27: Have you gone out and just tried on whatever they happen to have? My reasoning for not having done that is that I am VERY freakin' picky about what I have in mind and I am super doubtful they'll have anything like it or if they do it will not be in a size that is anywhere close to mine (bridal 18)..
Now my latest tactic is to go through all the weddingbee posts that talk about lower priced designers and make a list, and now I am going through those designer's sites one by one and saving pics of anything I like.
My hard drive can't take it!
I'm right there with you!! I know my friends all think I'm crazy but I just haven't gotten that 'feeling' yet. I have tried on well over 120 dresses....thats right..one.hundred.and.twenty. Ridiculous!!
Good luck!
All the online/magazine shopping I did made me go crazy too....my best advice is to go try them on! Its so much easier, and some dresses look amazing in pictures, but don't work with your body type/skin tone/etc. Good luck!
Forget boring people over the dress! wait till youre boring them with chair and linen choices, and centerpieces, and ceremony readings.....
If I didn't have the internet to vent it all on I'm sure I'd have an ulcer from trying to save my family and FI by keeping in all my OCD bride thoughts.
Oh my gosh, I am OBSESSED. I do the same thing. Look at dresses constantly. My "favorite" changes every single day. It gets frustrating because I wonder if I will know when I have really found "the one?" Or will I just be so obsessed with dresses that I will never feel like it's the one?
@amandasherman: You know, this is almost the same as when FI and I were shopping for a HOUSE! LOL! I drove everyone nuts. Esp. my mom. I sent her pics on the phone of potential houses CONSTANTLY and I think we looked at close to 50 or 60. It was exhausting and ridiculous but finally we found "the one". I think my real estate agent was ready to kiss us both when we finally said yes (to the house) because I was sooooooo picky but with a TINY budget. Gee, just like this dress thing!
@fitzly: I am so very thankful for wedding bee... especially in the 3am dress shopping hours when I can come here and go on and on (even if I am mostly talking to myself at that hour)!!
@farmersdaughter: Again I think I have found "the one" but can't find it to try on locally so I am making a note of all the key features it has and going to try on similar dresses... tomorrow. Well hopefully tomorrow. I have to call and see, but keep putting it off. ;)
@PaperCrane: I'm sure that's next! Luckily (for me? for them? we are having something of a destination wedding... not in the usual sense.. but either way we are marryign out of state and keeping it really simple. The church doesn't allow decorations and the "reception" will simply be dinner out somewhere since we have such a small guest list (probably 12 to 20 people max).. I think that's probably all a good thing since there are less details to figure out. I still have to figure out the ceremony and figure out what everyone is wearing though (FI and our 3 kids) which will be more of this insanity!
@beckiesue: It's hilarious. I first fell in love with one dress in particular that had a gorgeous 30's feel and I declared my love for it constantly even though my gut told me it wouldn't work with my body type well AND I was secretly sad at it's lack of WOW... it is a lovely and beautiful dress but I always imagined something with more of a ballgown-once-in-a-lifetime quality. This dress has a cut/style that is actually more like something i would wear every day (but not with a train, obviously)... so not as "bridal" as I'd dreamed. So then I found another and it was cheaper and I nicknamed it 'the betrayer' because I had developed this weird LOYALTY to the first dress. That's crazy talk, I know!
Now here I am with a totally new obsession and this one has remained "the one" for more than 24 hours and I have lost my desire to look at others so maybe it is?? LOL I still have to go do some trying on. I am the worst about procrastinating on that!!
@MsInterpret:Yes--get out there and try them on! Way more fun than the internet. Show the consultants pictures of what you like but also be open to their suggestions. I never liked mermaid/trumpet but that style ended up looking great on me (although I didn't ultimately go with it). Trying on could completely change your mind. Also, there may be some manufacturer that does blue and you aren't even aware of it.

Seriously. This is ALL I do lately (dress search online and call places to try and find said dresses and get price quotes). Plus I'm on summer break from school and working only temp job stuff so I have more time than I would normally... which is good, because I REALLY need to decide on a dress before school starts again (end of August)...
But yeah... I can see my family groaning every time I say "hey, what do you think of THIS one" or "do you think I can pull off pink?" or something along those lines. I dream of dresses at night. I reconstruct them in my head before falling asleep, mixing the bodice of one with the skirt of another and imagine various wraps and boleros and shrugs and shoe combinations.
Then, I get mad and frustrated and say I am sick of it and done with the whole mess and I will just wear whatever I feel like wearing on the day that's already in my closet, when I get tired of looking online and tired of trying to find things local to try on and having no luck. Then I get over it and start all over again. I am officially obsessed but I know everyone around me wishes I'd just find my dress and get over it alraedy. Well everyone but our 7 year old DD. She loves them ALL.
