Anyone else finding shoes more difficult than the dress - or just me?

Is anyone else finding accessory and shoe shopping harder than actually finding the dress?

I LOVE shoes (love, love, love), so I am very particular about them.  I want a great pair, but don't want to spend a ton of money for ivory/white shoes that I won't wear again too often.

Also, my fiance isn't much taller than me (and inch or two) so I want to wear lower heels.  But heels for sure since my dress is tea length.

My mom just laughs at me because I have been tearing through websites looking at shoes and also at jewerly and hair things.

    Anyone else with me???

I love what I found, but by the end I felt like I knew every shoe that existed!

Hah, I already know it's going to be an issue because I hate shoe shopping- not because I dislike shoes (quite the opposite, LOVE shoes) but because I get tired of people telling me they don't carry/make my size.  I've been told to go to the children's section before- I cried.  I've also had the problem of people not believing me when I say my size (they aren't that small- I don't understand why they don't believe me!) and are astonished when they realize that I'm telling the truth.  My mom says I should just buy a pair when I find them but I have to remind her that I'm going to change my mind about things probably in the next threeish years.

@sarahsd: I totally know what you mean about feeling like you know about every shoe that exists!

My wedding isn't until next April, and I have kind of a specific look in my mind and nothing that exists right now fits it PERFECTLY. I stalk nordstrom / zappos / barneys / neimans / etc. weekly looking for new shoes I haven't seen before! Its only July and I'm ready for all the fall / winter collections to go away and give way to pretty SPRING heels!

If nothing else comes along, I will probably also go with design your own ninas. I love all the options!

I'm also finding it quite difficult.  I want wedges (for stability!) and I need 2" heels, so that I won't have to get my dress hemmed.  Plus I want sandals and ivory or silver.  This combination is suprisingly rare.  But oh well!  An exuse to shoe shop!

I actually had my shoes before I had me dress!  Of course I bought them a long time ago and I get shoe envy every now and then.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

@Sarahsd, I have.  I love the ones with the bow and ankle strap, but not sure about an ankle strap.  Once I get my fabric swatch in the mail, I"m going to town.

It's a shoe lovers dream really... that excuse to shop for shoes.

I usually have such an easy time buying shoes, but this is driving me crazy for the wedding!  I want blue shoes, but not navy or aqua (something in between), which I just am not finding.  They need to be between 3-3/4" and 4-1/4" (otherwise I have to get my dress altered).  But the hardest part has been figuring out what type of shoe looks good with a lace dress.  I have bought and returned a few pairs already that just didn't look right!

Yep. I want nude, 1 1/2" peep toes.. haha, good luck right. I never see nude shoes. Well.. to be fair, I am in the Middle East and the fashion here seems to be over the top, 4-5" black/shimmery stillettos!! Yeah, I pretty much just gave up my Nude shoe search while typing that! Ha.

@NatDawn: Your problem has intrigued me - zappos:

    http://www.zappos.com/seychelles-trip-the-light-fantastic-taupe - 2.5

    http://www.zappos.com/cole-haan-carma-air-ot-pump-55-beige - 2" heel

    http://www.zappos.com/cole-haan-carma-air-sling-55-beige - 2.25"

That, and I'm working really hard today to not work. Granted, the heel height isn't EXACTLY what you were looking for . . .

    hey ladies.

made a trip to the mall a week or so ago... all the department stores are selling their summer stuff.  I found two pairs of ivory shoes together with tax for under $100!  I may even keep the ones I don't end up wearing and try to have them dyed because they were so cheap!

I've been having this same issue.  I haven't gone dress shopping yet but I've been stressing more about the shoes.  Shoes are my favorite part of any outfit so the ones on my wedding day need to be perfect but I too struggle with spending a lot of money on shoes I will only wear once.  Good luck with your hunt!!

Ohhh yes, I feel the same way about the accesorry hunt! There's so many options with so much personality!! The dress was a tough shop too but at least I generally knew the vision... I'm wide open to options for shoes! :) hehe.

@kate169:  I love them too, but I'm worried about the ankle strap with my tea length dress.

If I don't choose those ones, I may try to dye them another color and keep them.

I bought my shoes before I had my dress picked out. They were $15, and they're the only thing about the wedding that I haven't even once second guessed.

Although my mother decided yesterday that the wooden heel made them inappropriate for a wedding. Ugh. Not that I'm even remotely considering her opinion on this, but it annoyed me that she felt the need to bring it up.

I had that problem too! I searched forever for brown satin shoes. I never ended up finding any either (within my price range). But trust me you have it way easier in the states. I walked into Macy's after I bought black shoes and I didn't want to look because there was a huge veriety and I couldn't spend more money. I was totally surprised that shoes were so hard to find!

I had a hard time finding shoes. I love shoes but not girly shoes.  I didn't even know what Louboutins were before WB! Luckily, I'm already over them because I can't do heels that tall even if I do love the red soles.

I got so frustrated because I would go through "post your shoe" threads on a few sites and fall for some shoes that were now out of stock or from a year old post where the designer wasn't named.

I think its hard to find cute shoes that are not white and do not have tall heels. I finally found some low burgundy heels at DSW.

I typically wear high heels, but I wanted to try to find something a little lower for the wedding.  I was shocked... why does it seem like style goes out the window a bit as the heel gets lower??  Maybe its justs me?

The Nina ones were my wedding shoe!  They hurt so bad I had to change after the ceremony though, and I'm a seasoned heel-wearer.

I thought I was the only one!! I am looking for some cute pumps or something, but it can't have a heel more then 2 inches ( I don't want to tower over my SO, lol). The hunt continues... >.<

I definitely agree with  how the choices seem to diminish the lower the heel gets.  The shoes I have LOVED have all been 4" or more.  Ack!  Can't do that!

I found shoes (today, bought online) that are lower and I hope like heck they fit because I don't want to have to look anymore.   My issue is price.  I find a lot that I like but I'm too cheap to spend that much on wedding shoes.   Then again no matter what, I will most likely dye my wedding shoes dark and wear them again. :)

This is what I got -- I'd originally hoped for pale blue or pink but I know with these if I change my mind, since they are satin, I can still have them dyed before the wedding, and I MIGHT change out the pearl thingie (I prefer little bows!):

I have been on a manhunt for some satin purple shoes with a bow style similiar to the louboutins.  I've probably spent more hours searching relentlessly for shoes than anything else..

I'm also having a tough time locating shoes! I found the dress pretty quickly, but shoes are another story. My wedding and reception will be outside, so I'm on the hunt for a nice wedge that's either turquoise or a bluish purple. The other challenge is I would like them the higher the better, since my FI is 13" taller than me. I've found a great selection of wedges on Amazon, but they are all a bit too casual for my taste. I'm now struggling with whether I just go with a cute espadrille (noone's going to see the shoes anyway) or go with heels and try the heel protector thingies.

I have yet to order anything, though. The fact that I'm a total shoe girl isn't helping the matter, since I want the perfect pair!

I was having trouble, but since my dress is going to be all over beaded and lace, I thought I should get plain white 3" heels. I don't really love the shoes but they look nice with the dress (they don't clash).

And since they're dyable I was thinking about getting them dyed after the wedding (and treated so the color won't bleed if they get wet) so I can wear them again. I was thinking dying them like a royal blue or apple green-- a fun color that I would definitely wear-- maybe on my honeymoon. :) That makes me feel better about my shoes.

@JenniMichele:  That was kind of my goal too. My dress has a lot going on.. allover lace and allover beading with sparkle.  I picked the ones I posted above because they are more simple but still say "bride"... and like you, I plan to have them dyed after the wedding so I dont' feel like I wasted money on white shoes.  I MIGHT have them dyed before the wedding, either pink or pale blue, but at this point I'm thinking no, for the same reason I mentioned (my dress has enough going on as it is!)..

I was thinking of dying them purple after the wedding.  I love purple and don't have any purple shoes, and then I'd change out the pearl/rhinestone thing for something else... maybe a black rosette or flower?  Purple and black, totally works with my everyday wardrobe. :)

Finding shoes proved to be more difficult than finding my dress. I finally purchased these a few days ago...now I just have to walk around in them for hours to "break them in"...

Yup, shoes were harder for me too.  I finally just sucked it up and spent way more than I wanted to.  I'm going to dye them black after the wedding and keep them as my formal black heels for cocktail and formal parties.  I need to break mine in around the house too.  Here they are:
