I have to get used to it to. My old last name started with Sp and my new last name is Sl, and I catch myself after the S and sometimes write the wrong name =]. Oops, lol. It's too easy to go from S to p or l so I always mess it up
It's been over 4 months for us now, and I started the name change process right away and yet I still don't get it right sometimes :p When I had to initial something, I accidently put my old initials last week. Yesterday, I was calling some place but nobody answered and, idk if it's just me, but I always get a tad flustered when I have to leave a message, so I ended up saying my old last name as well lol
I think I'm going to have a really hard time with it. My last name now starts with a Q, but my new last name will start with a B. It's a really big switch in terms of signatures. Saying it will be a shock to my system, too, I think. I've been talking myself through it for awhile now (silently, in my head of course). So not fair that FI doesn't have to make any changes.
haha, I def forget sometimes! @JoesWifey - I always say "Hi, this is Jennifer (maiden name)" - everyone doesn't know me as Jennifer (new name) yet!
Oh, and I haven't had a chance to change my name everywhere yet, so I have to think about what I'm signing, so I use the correct name (checks, credit cards, etc.)
I also didn't change my last initial. I read that that's supposed to be unlucky: change the name but not the letter, marry for worse and not for better.
Seeing my new name is still weird, especially because I went back and forth on whether I should change it, but it's even weirder to see my old name and think that it doesn't really exist anymore.
My new last name will be very similar to my maiden name so I hopefully won't have many problems with the transition :) Both names are the same length, sound the same, and have a bunch of similar letters (R, A, and N)! I love it!!!
I went back to graduate school 2 months after getting married, and more than once I introduced myself with my maiden name. I think I've finally gotten used to it, but it took a while!!
It's been 7 months since our wedding, and I occasionally catch myself signing my maiden name. Old habits never die, I guess. =)
Oh, I know I'm going to have a really tough time! My first name and maiden name are notoriously difficult, so I'm used to spelling them both out constantly on the phone, at school, at work, etc. FI's last name is much easier!
Oh my, yes. Every day I mess up my name... that's alright though, I just figure that I've been actively using my maiden name for over 20 years so it's going to be a little hard to change. :)
I've had a hard time getting used to my new name. I can write it correctly every time, but I forget to use it when I introduce myself sometimes. Randomly, I'll just say my old name when leaving a voice mail or something. The other day someone called me Mrs. NewName and I actually looked around for my MIL! :)
The other day I went to my eye doctor and if I hadn't been the ONLY person in the waiting room it would have taken me even longer to figure out that they were calling ME back to the room. Most of the time I get my name right (certainly not all the time, and I still don't recognize my initials, which we use a lot at work), but I'm frequently confused when other people refer to me with my new name.
I've had a hard time remembering too. the other day a big envelope came and I just glanced at the name and left it in his mail pile. Later in the afternoon, he asked me what it was and I said I don't know, isn't it yours? No, it has your name on it, aren't you Mrs. T? Oops - it was our new dental cards.

Since it took a few weeks to get the marriage license certificate and with my hectic schedule - it was two months before I finally did the name change thing. The fall semester already started and my students have been calling me by the last name they always have and I am not going to make them change mid-semester.
Yesterday a new student came over to ask me some questions before registering for one of my spring courses. She called me Professor Bluespurrs and I swear it took me at least 5 seconds for me to understand she was talking about ME! I am sure to looked as dumbounded as I felt. Anyone else been caught off-guard when someone used your married name?
