I'm watching food network right now and I swear I feel like a domestic diva goddess around the holidays,  most times i get too lazy or overwhelmed or something and don't make the items, this year i have it all planned out and am INCREDIBLY excited!! is anyone else going domestic diva this holiday season?  I am doing my very first thanksgiving dinnerbut of course my mom and I will be on the phone while i am making her dishes (lemon meringue pie and dressing) and i've decided that I want to give sweets away as gifts this year..... and it's just so awesomely fun!!! thanks to the board i have been able to begin practicing my domestic diva-ness and make recipes for dinner, start crafting more than usual, etc...

Haha. Me. Normally I stick to Chocolate chip cookies every once in awhile. I've recently made those, fudge, snicker doodles, cinnamon-sugar cookies, and I'm making KMSull's Pumpkin Cupcakes now! haha. Not to mention the fact I've been making better dinners!

ME! I want to bake cookies and fancy food and everything. Not even funny. Cooking really relaxes me though and osmetimes i have to force myself NOT to make something. Especially if i have nobody to pawn it off on.Then i just eat it and feel like a fatty =]

Yes! I always gain a few pounds in the winter for that very reason. I don't even eat that much of what I make, I think it's just being inside and testing little bits of everything instead of working out, etc.

But it's so fun to perfect recipes and experiment with baking/cooking!

I have a huge desire to bake a million things right now!  The only problem is that if I do, I will eat them all and not be able to fit into my clothes!

@Crebre-you betcha! Though it's not that much of a secret any more. lol. Oh, I made Eggnog cookies and a vegan chocolate cake with orange glaze, too! I love watching food network when I get the channel, but that's really rare. I think I also bake more because FI's mom and FSIL are really into it and it's rubbing off on me.

I love the feeling of satisfaction I get when people enjoy my cooking - it's like a high! Haha. Sometimes I feel like Monica on Friends.

Oh my gosh, yes! I loooove holiday cooking and baking. I'm usually a light to moderate chef during the rest of the season, but something about the holiday season turns me into Martha Stewart.

I do!  Tonight I need to make something with the 50000 apples we have.  My hub and I both had the same idea to buy apples this weekend but didn't tell each other - and we each bought like a big bucketfull.  Anyone have some exceptionally good recipes for apples, preferably dessert?

Ha ha, I made the first batch of Christmas cookies last night! I'm mailing them to my sister in college on Wednesday so that she'll have a Christmas care package waiting for her when she gets back from Thanksgiving!

I think I'm going to try and apple crisp, I like the crust better.  There's just so many recipes out there I get overwhelmed.  I kinda like all recipes because people write in their feedback of how they changed the recipes to make it better.

I always love to cook but during the holidays, I want to cook more elaborate stuff and go all out. I was just watching Giada and now I think I must have a trifle dish so I can make a trifle. I've never done that before. Her bacon wrapped pork roast looked pretty amazing too!

I totally have the urge to bake up a storm. I'm a decent cook (and getting better) but I've never really tried my hand at baking from scratch and I've always wanted to. There's something so domestic and wife-y about baking things from scratch.

OMG YES! I saw the title of the post & was gonna say something about the FoodNtwk too. Every Sat & Sun morning it's all I watch when I wake up. It always makes me want to bake! I stink at cooking but I can bake. Plus it makes the house smell awesome.

Sometimes, like yesterday - I'll just put some apple cider in a pot on the stove, eat an orange throw the peel in, add some cinnamon and let it simmer away. The older couple that lives downstairs from us must think I bake every weekend. It moisturizes the air in the apt and the smell is awesome - it'll beat any candle, any day!

not so much cooking but i definitely get the baking bug around now. i always want to bake when the weather is crappy [thanks to my mom] but i also bake goodies for christmas baskets for my friends each year and it's around now that i start to finalize the contents and start rolliing on the baking!

this year though involves no baking. i'm making chocolate truffles!

I've had the bug since we got married. First because of all the new gadgets we got, now because of the holidays.

mmmm baking i love that as well!! i have an urge to cook and i agree that baking or making anything from scratch makes me feel very wifey, domestic-y.. and i love the fact that m encourages me because OMG 18 months ago was not a pretty sight because i couldn't even bake chicken!! i mean that's sooo easy, mine came out rubbery like a tire! now m is like yep you've arrived :D

    I get the eating urge.

(And cooking urge. Problem is that I have more time for BOTH during the holidays. I'm going to keep my butt as far away from the kitchen as possible).

    Oh my gods, yes!

Which is odd, because I used to be a chef and ended up re-training becasue I realised I absolutely hate cooking!  I also can't cook because I still live with my folks and my Mum is VERY posessive about her kitchen.

I so want to book a weekend away with Boy just so I can try and cook a three bird roast with all the trimmimgs.

Not so much cook.. but I'm a baking fool around this time of year. However, the bridal diet/ lifestyle change has put the brakes on that. Now I have to leave the room anytime my FI is watching Paula Deen on the Food Network. Just watching her show makes me crave butter.. sour cream.. sweets. Dang!

I don't cook but I bake.  The holidays definitely make me want to bake all kinds of yummy treats.  I do usually put together some sort of cookie baskets for my friends/family, so I generally bake at least 3 kinds of cookes and biscotti.

    I do I do!

I love cooking but wish I had more time for it.

I told T last night I'd love it if in the future he sent me to cooking school.  I took a few classes over 10 yrs ago, but would love it.

Did anybody just adore the movie Julie/Julia btw?

I want to cook something yummy but I still have leftovers in the fridge and hate the clean up from cooking.

I made the most delicious beef stock today. It's going to get me through the cold weather and my self-imposed finals hermit-ness. I don't bake (math?!) but I wish I did-- I could use some cookies right now, big time!
