I'm already over winter. I hate it. I hate the cold, I hate how dark it is, I hate being cooped up inside, I hate wearing heavy clothes and winter coats. I think I suffer from SAD, it has lessen a little bit since I started taking Vitamin D supplements, but I always get so down and apathetic during the winter.

I do NOT want to live in the Midwest my entire life (I have for 28 years so far and hated every single winter). I need to live someplace warm like Florida. I love Florida, I go there at least once a year. I'm going to start planning a trip for late-February or early-March.

Any other bees utterly despise winter?

The feels like temp is currently 2, the zipper on my favorite winter boots just broke and I have 3 more months of this nonsense to deal with

    Why did I leave Florida?

The minute the holidays are over, I start longing for the beach! It's supposed to be a fairly mild winter for us at least as far as the weather is projecting through February.

I hate winter, like with a passion.  I have to say that oddly, we have had it pretty good this winter.  Two small bits of snow and tomorrow it's going to be 60 degrees, holy cow am I excited.  I will take it over the feet of snow we had last year.

I hate winter too and im from new york so im no stranger to the cold. This week in Colorado its going to be in the 60s. Which is great but also sucky cuz it was just 18 degrees last week. Lucky me caught a cold from the change. So im with you. I cant wait to move back to north carolina where the weather is fairly constant.

Our winters here can go either way -- horrible feet upon feet of snow and temps never rising above 25°F for months on end, or we could have short dustings of snow interspersed with days of warm and sunshine. The past two winters have been horrible (snowmageddon, anyone?) but this year seems alright so far. It's 16°F today and completely cloudy, and going up to the 40s and 50s and sunny through the weekend. Pittsburgh weather is insane. I don't mind the winters like this one has been so far, but the ones like snowmageddon, I want to die.

@tksjewelry - You're not too terribly far from me! I agree, last  year's winter was much worse. Here in KC we still haven't gotten snow that covered the ground or stuck for more than a day. But I still want some 70+ degree weather! :)

Lol, I'm in WI and winter still hasn't begun! There is the lightest of dustings on the ground, the last two days were in the mid-teens for the first time, but now it's back to 40's through the weekend.

But I too, am looking forward to sunny days and warmer weather!

15 degrees this morning... I haaaaaaaate the cold, but I'm attached to New England since I grew up here and all my friends and family are here.  Ugh.  Better weather and cheaper living down south, but I just cant bring myself to move.

I have always said i belong somewhere tropical haha - i hate the cold! We have been pretty fortunate to have a mild winter so far this year but its only in the 30's today ugh! when its cold i never want to do anything but hide under a blanket on my couch.

My husband and I usually do a trip in March somewhere warm to get a break from the cold, and usually by the time we get back we only have a few more weeks of winter ;) i look forward to it every year.

So far this year we have had a really mild winter.  We hardly even have a dusting of snow, which is really rare!  Normally I suffer from mild/moderate SAD, too, but I have found that taking up a winter hobby and making the most of the season has helped a lot.  When I sit around thinking about how I can't wait for spring when it's still months away, I get restless and depressed.  This year, FI and I have decided to take up snowshoeing so we can at least have fun (and get exercise) with the snow!

But, go figure, we don't have snow yet...  Haha, I'm sure we will later this winter, though.

I love seasons, but after Christmas I'm over it big time.

My husband is currently hospitalized with the flu, and I've got a cold that just won't quit. And because I'm pregnant yup, can't take a thing for it that actually does anything. So right about now, sunshine and warmth sounds amazing.

@KatyElle: I couldn't agree more. In my opinion, Christmas is the main purpose of winter. January and February do nothing for me.

Also, I hope you feel better!

I have lived in New England my whole life (24 years) and I completely hate winter!! I hate being cold. I hate skin getting dry and noses getting runny. I hate having to carry around multiple layers of clothing. I hate warming up my car and wearing gloves to drive. I hate frost/ice on my window. And most of all I hate snow!!! I feel sick when I see it in the forecast, even flurries make me sad. It's been that way my whole life. I need to move to a warm place with no seasons, and soon!

wow I didn't mean to vent that much..

@Gemstone: Thank you! And yes if we had been sick during Christmas that would have been such a bummer so I guess it's good we're getting it over with now!

God I hate winter with a passion. I'm dreading when it starts snowing too. Snow in NYC is frigging awful. It gets filthy and disgusting so quickly. I'm not looking forward to navigating my pregnant belly through the subway in winter clothes ugh. I miss summer :(

I hate, hate, hate winter. I don't get the people who love it. You love being cold and misrable? You love the sun coming up as you get to work and going down at 4:30pm?

It was -10 (14F) yesterday, but -20 (-4F) with the windchill.

    I can't wait for April.

@pinkshoes: I moved down south for a few years and I LOVED it, but did get homesick for the north. Now I'm wondering what I was thinking?!Get me back down there where the weather is tolerable.

Here everyone goes to work and school no matter what, even in a blizzard. Down there they cancel school if it might flurry.

I'm an oddball, I guess. I love winter. I love, love, love snow and prefer cold temps to hot summer heat. So I'm quite happy right now, although the current temperature in the teens is a little too cold, even for me. :)

We're hitting in the -20s with windchill too -- which is actually abnormally warm for us, for winter. That part is nice but the wind is freaking brutal!

On days like today, clear, sunny, no wind to speak of, I don't mind winter. I don't mind going for walks in it and if my fiance's snowshoes weren't broken (and he wasn't sick) I'd glady do that, too.

But when I wake up in the morning and it's snowing, blustering and it takes me half an hour to be able to see out my windshield, I hate winter. I hate bundling up in 16 layers and still being cold. The thing I hate the most is the darkness, so I'm glad we're getting into longer days!

I'm originally from Indiana but even though I live much farther South in Texas now, I still hate winter (even if it is mild).  Everything is cold and dreary and dead.  I can't wait for sunshine and warmth to be back!

@KatyElle: Having grown up in the north and being used to "normal" winters and snow, I still laugh at the people in the South who freak out and won't drive when we get a dusting and when schools and such cancel before a single flake falls just because snow is predicted.

I do!  The drop in motivation and general happiness is so striking for me that I think I must have SAD too.

Yep, only a couple more months to go!!!!

Fall and Spring are my favourite seasons, so winter is really long for me. I love Christmas, but not everything that goes along with winter.

I DESPISE winter. Growing up in the Poconos, you would think I would love winter but I don't. I hate skiing, I hate the cold, I hate icy road conditions. My skin and hair get so dry I can't stand it.  I live for the all-too-short summers in PA. I would really love to live in SW Virginia or NC, but I have tenure and the pay and benefits are too good for me to give up.

in seattle, spring starts early. certain bulb flowers (like crocuses) begin to sprout as early as february! it's very uplifting to see them.

but the thing is that here, it is generally 50 degrees and lightly raining off and on all day/night from october to june! so that's the downside.

the upside is that I don't have to wear thick coats. yesterday I took a walk in the rain, and all I was wearing was a thin raincoat and t-shirt!

@KatyElle:  We had just a slight dusting a couple times last winter with a little ice and everybody freaked out. There were a good number of accidents, and no wonder! No one was taught how to deal with winter weather. I have to drive DH back and forth from his work because he's terrified to drive in it after totaling his car last winter.

I grew thinking I hated winter (in PA) but realized, I just don't like the cold. Texas winter just messes me up. It jumps from hotish to coldish and it just makes everything ache. I feel like an old woman with everything clicking and popping and hurting. At least next year we'll live somewhere with consistent weather.

I'm at work with my winter jacket on.  If I could type in gloves then I'd have those on too.  The past two days have been 10 degrees out and my car lost it's heat.  To top it off I have Reynauds so my extremities are always cold due to poor blood circulation.  Can anyone say frostbite?

I keep reminding myself that in 8 months I'll be sipping a pina colada on the beach somewhere...
