He'll take his laptop into the can with him and read sports blogs for half an hour. At least once a day.
@jedeve:It's not a laptop, but he gets mad if I've thrown out last weeks newspaper!
(that he's read 7 times)
actually my hubby doesnt, not even so much as a magazine or comic book - hes def a taking care of business only guy
eeeewwwww. That grosses me out! We have magazines/catalogs in there that he reads, and usually, once they go in there.. they don't come back out! I feel like they are tainted after that with grossness
@jedeve: Bahaha! Are you sure you are not talking about my SO? I came home one day and the SO had pulled a dining room chair into the bathroom to put the laptop on. I walked in and asked "What on earth are you doing?" He said that the laptop was getting hot on his legs. hahaha
@runnerbeez: OMG LOL.
Mine is when I get home I can see the laptop cord plugged into the wall and the living room trailing down under the bathroom door, you know he's gonna be in there for a while.
Yeah... My FI takes his iphone in there. I dont even want to know lol... He is obessed with the superbowl right now and thats all he watches on TV so Im guessing thats all he reads about too.
He tried to take my laptop in there once, but I stopped him hehe
I logged in just to post about this.
Yes, my boyfriend will take his laptop in with him and spend 15-25 minutes taking care of his business. Sometimes he will even take an extra challenging math problem to work on.
I asked him about it and he said it was just one of the few times during the day when he felt he could feel totally...
Hey, this is Tunacupakes's boyfriend:
thought you might want a little primary evidence. Most of the time when I go in for that long it isn't actually to "do business"...I'm not sure about your boy friend, but I don't get a lot of time to myself throughout the day.
Between taking three math/science classes as a junior in college, working 25 hours per week as a tutor, teaching a workshop, and doing research for one of the school's biophysics labs, it seems like everyone's out for a piece of my time!
Now, I've discovered that there is one (and exactly one) place that NO ONE WILL BOTHER YOU.
the end :-)
!!!
Boyfriend stole the laptop because I asked him for a quote and then when I was able to steal it back, Weddingbee was undergoing maintenance!! I got the laptop back finally and I guess I will just say...uh... there. Straight from the source.
Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where George tried to return the book, LOL.
My fiance takes his Kindle or his cell phone in with him. Ugh. Just do your business and get out! I don't understand why men want to sit in a stinky little room with their pants down and read for half an hour!
FI does but he's not reading anything sports related, he's coding. He's a mac and iPhone developer so he pretty much codes or does research on his apps 24/7. That hour that's spent on the crapper is prime time for uninterrupted work. He's even claimed one of our laundry baskets as his "desk". God forbid I use it for actual laundry and its not in his bathroom when he's ready to go in, lol.
My guy is a taking care of business person. He doesn't ever read anything or stay in the bathroom for very long.
lol you're lucky its only 1/2 an hour. That's my FI's time without a Laptop. With one its like an hour or even 2. He's made his legs go totally numb and burned his skin on his leg from his laptop. LOL I say serves him right.
That's gross, to have the laptop in the bathroom. I'd avoid touching it if I were you.
Sitting on a toilet for half an hour. Does he have hemmrhoids? "Cuase he might get them.
Men can sure revert back to dirty little boys sometimes!
No! That is so funny! Growing up, my Dad and brothers kept piles of magazines in the bathroom though and would disappear for what seemed like half an hour at least twice a day!
Okay you asked, so you are going to get a TMI response!
My FI does do this, with his iphone, but I also want to say that I am guilty of this too!! Am I only the one?! Haha, I don't mind putting it out there if I am.
I have IBS, so sometimes my trips to the bathroom are, err, longer than average. Plus it's painful. I usually bring my kindle or sometimes even my laptop (since I don't own an awesome smart phone :( ) to pass the time and keep my mind off the pain.
Anyways, that's my side of the story, sorry if it's gross, but it's the truth!!
Mr. Roux will spent a good half hour in the bathroom doing god knows what. Playing games on his phone I guess. Last week I needed to pee so bad that I had to go squat in the backyard.
ew, he takes YOUR laptop? Not cool. I thought everybody had bathroom magazines, though!
@TinyTina: I do it also, I have IBS too and I know what you are talking about. There are things that need to be taken care of and I figure I can kill two birds with one stone:)
J usually takes his iPhone with him. Sometimes it's his MacBook if his phone is dead.
Mine takes his laptop in. To be fair, I take my iphone in there sometimes and I also have a basket full of Archie comics in there. Nobody can get bored in our bathroom.
My FI definitely wouldn't take his laptop, but he reads in the various long fantasy book series we both love to read while he's in there... I work in a library, but since I noticed this habit and how many books he goes through, he totally out-reads me :P
He has a good sense of humor about it -- he grew up in a family of 4 kids and the bathroom was the only place you could lock yourself in and not be bothered!
@menobride: Thank you! I've been waiting for someone to agree with the grossness of that!!
@TinyTina: Ha, yep, came in here to say this too. Another IBS sufferer here...sometimes I need something to distract myself from the pain or to pass the time haha. I've been known to drag a little stacking table in there with me to use as a "desk" if it's gonna be an extra-long trip.
YUP - it used to be his computer but now it is his smart phone - sometimes he can be in there for an hour - it blows my mind. I'm in and out in under 2 minutes.
lol YES! Although he takes his iPhone and reads about sports, news, and plays games.
Yes!! He takes his laptop or iPad. I don't get it. I like to get in and get out. I don't understand just lounging on the toilet for a long time while you take a dump. Men are so weird! I asked him if the smell ever got to him, and he responded, like I was crazy "Well I obviously flush intermittently!"
@runnerbeez: HAHAHAHA.
@TinyTina:, @forestgirl:, @Kant:As far as those with IBS go, I have IC (similar problem but with the bladder instead) so I definitely read in the bathroom when I have to go. But when I'm done, I'm done. I leave. That's the part I don't get...the post-poop campout.
@Tunacupcakes: Funny! That's what my husband said. He said he didn't do it until we lived together and now he just wants some alone time sometimes. Which makes me a little sad that he feels like he has to retreat to the bathroom to get away from me! hahaha.
@Atalanta: Oh there's been times. Whenever I see him grab his laptop and head that way, I try to dart in there before he does in case I feel like I'll have to go to the bathroom in the next hour.
Glad to hear I'm not the only one! He also puts on sports podcasts really loud when he showers. I don't think he can shower without one. When people ask what the biggest adjustment to getting married is, I always think of this one but it's not something I would ever say to people! Lol.
Also, once my roommate in college read an entire book on the toilet that she needed to finish for class. Not in one sitting, but its how she read the book! She just left it in the bathroom. It worked for her!
I sometimes joke and call the bathroom DH's game room since he always takes his psp into the bathroom if he'll in there for awhile. He wanted to take my netbook once before, but I was quite clear that it was NOT going to happen. Men.
FI does this too!! He disappears into the bathroom with his iPod touch and stays in there for awhile. I don't get it at all. Do your stuff and get out! Why on earth would you WANT to sit in there for hours on end? FI said it's because it's relaxing haha... what??
