I’m a junior in college right now, double majoring in English and Spanish.
I picked my majors because I like the subjects, but I really have no clue what I want to do after I graduate
I could go to grad school…but I dont know what I would want to study there either.
Fortunately FH is an engineering major so he knows where he’s headed but I honestly get so anxious about it because I don’t have any idea what would make me happy.

I got my MBA and still don’t know what I want to do. My husband works in engineering, finishing up his masters in aerospace this year.
Wish I had advice for you! I wouldn’t go back to school if you aren’t sure what it will do though, it’s a hindrance to have a degree and not be on a career path already.

Agreed, don’t go grad school unless you have a career path in mind.
I’ll be 30 in a few weeks, eyeballs deep in a graduate program, and am in the same boat. Just keep an open mind?

Have you spoken to a career counselor/coach on campus? Also, attend a few job fairs that I am sure your school will host. You can meet a lot of future employers that way and learn more about the possibilities available to you. Don’t do grad school without a plan, or you may end up further confused and just in debt.

I’m in the same situation, I’m in my 3rd year of a psychology major, taking it because I love the classes, but I really don’t want to do any of the related careers. I’m considering teaching, that’s probably my most do-able option but what I really want to do is just be a stay at home mom/housewife. Or maybe a cake decorator, but I think it’d be too much pressure.

@MabelleBliss: I feel like you just pulled the words out of my mouth. I was stuck in a psych major for so long but also don’t want to do any of the careers. Maybe we can be crafty moms together. Haha.
@radishtime: As you can see, many people go through this. I wouldn’t go to grad school but maybe take time off after you graduate to reflect on who you are and where your real passions lie. I know after years of doing the same old same old, I had to take time off to really find out if what I was doing is even right for me. I’m still figuring it out and that’s ok. 🙂 Good luck!

I’m right there with you :(. I graduated in Dec 2010 with a BA in Political Science…a field I am only partially interested in and spent almost all of 2011 trying, uncessfully, to find a job in. I have finally started working as a nanny while I figure out what to do…I’m thinking about grad school as well, but like you, I wouldn’t know what to study there either! I just don’t want to spend the money for grad school and end up in the same position that I’m in now.
Luckily my husband loves what he does and makes a good living doing it, so it’s (financially) okay that I’m so undecided. We’d really be in a mess if we were both in this boat, lol!
The two things that I REALLY enjoy doing are photography and cake decorating…and I’ve entertained the idea of one day starting my own business in one or the other. However, that idea terrifies me and there’s such a great chance of failure…I just don’t know.
Sorry that I don’t have any advice for you, just thought I’d let you know that you are definitely not alone!
