i’ve never had a cyst rupture, but i did have a cyst that was so large that it was twisiting my ovary. my only option was surgery to remove it, but i didn’t have health coverage at the time, so my doctor just gave me birth control and a prescription for pain meds (neither were helpful) and told me to “deal with it.” after 5 months of horrible pain, i finally found a program that helps people with no insurance/low income pay for their medical bills and i was able to have my surgery.

my pain was so bad that i honestly wanted to die and my doctor didn’t seem to care about helping me. i was pretty much hopeless and i felt so bad that my pain was affecting everyone else around me, especially my mom, who was “on call” pretty much 24 hours a day just in case i needed anything.

i know exactly how you’re feeling and i’m so sorry you have to deal with this (i’m in pain just thinking about it). have you tried different types/brands of birth control? my brother’s girlfriend has a problem with recurring cysts on both ovaries and she’s on levora and i think it works pretty well for her.

stay stong and hang in there!

I’m sorry!  I haven’t had an ovarian cyst rupture, but I had a fibroid rupture during sex, and that was horrible!  Talk to your doc about different BCP options.  Just because one brand didn’t work for you doesn’t mean that they all won’t.  I had to try a good half dozen different ones till I found one that stopped the migraines, stopped the periods and will supposedly keep the fibroids from coming back.  It’s incredibly frustrating while you’re switching brands, but it’s SO worth it when you find the right one.

I’m so sorry, OP. A couple of years ago, I had an undiagnosed cyst rupture after sex. The pain was TERRIBLE and I ended up having to go to the emergency room. I was put on BC and cysts haven’t been a problem since, so I have been very lucky in that regard.

It sounds like your FI is a wonderful man and you are very lucky to have him by your side. Don’t push yourself to have sex if you don’t feel like your body can handle it. There are other ways to be intimate without having intercourse. Hang in there!

It’s only happened to me once, but the pain was excruciating. I ended up going to the ER because I was worried my appendix was about to burst. Once my doc figured out what the problem was, he put me on Naproxen for a few days to ease the pain, and I’ve not had another one since.  I really feel for you if this is happening with any sort of regularity.  They’re awful!!   I think the pp’s who suggested BCP to control them are probably on the right track. Best to talk to your doc and find out what s/he suggests.

Yeah, I have. I’ve posted about this a couple months ago. Recently got diagnosed with PCOS and let me tell you, it is horrible. I’ve essentially had a heavy period almost non-stop since January. It is so annoying, and difficult to deal with.

I’m taking the birth control pill. It’s seeming to help so far in terms of controlling the bleeding. I’m on my fourth different pill and this one seems to be doing the trick. I would also suggest dieting/eating fresh fruit and veggies if you think you are overweight. Obesity and weight gain is a big issue with bleeding.

I hope you feel better! Heat packs are a great way to lessen the cramps.

Sadly I’ve had many rupture and it is very painful. My dr won’t do anything about it so I’m just left to suffer through it I guess. Stupid cysts.

@CookieDough_love:  Yeah Ive had it happen once.  I was 17.  It was horrible.  Be careful if you want to have children since you have had so many cysts rupture I have heard that too many will cause you to be able to have children.  If you want children anyway.

I am luckily enough not to have one rupture, but I have had one removed surgically years ago and then last year found out I actually have a few cysts in my ovaries currently. Its definitely a struggle to deal with especially since it interferes with your daily live so much. I have been put on the BCP and found that helps with some of the effects, so maybe you need to look into changing your prescription if it makes you feel worse.

Sorry I don’t have much advice but just know your not alone <3
