Anyone else have waist length hair and wearing it down for the ceremony?

My hair is so heavy it will pull most curl out with the weight so I'm going to put just a little of it up in the back at the crown.  I'm wondering if I should put setting lotion in my hair the night before

I plan on hot rolling it the morning of the ceremony and using a curling iron after that to do the roots. Will setting lotion help or should I use something else?

Oooh, waist length hair! That would look awesome. I think you should experiment with setting lotion, mousse, serum etc. depending on your hair type since you have until December! I assume you're doing your own hair?

My hair comes down almost past my waist, I grew it out for the wedding.  I'll be trying to curl it, and while my hair usually holds curls well I'm still getting some layers cut into it to make it lighter and easier to curl.  My hair stylist did not recommend putting any products in the night before, and she's doing curling iron all around.  She said it just weighs it down more.  I might not even use conditioner but my hair is very dry at this length so I don't know.  I wish I could afford a second hair trial.

My hair is over halfway down my back normally.  I had it pinned up so that the curls wouldn't completely fall out during the wedding.  Still pretty long though.  Didn't have any problems with it for the night!

I actually put a volumizing mousse into my hair the night before the wedding on recommendation from my stylist.  I have super straight super heavy and thick Japanese hair that doens't hold curls well, but I really wanted soft finger waves.  While she was styling my hair she sprayed each section with hairspray, THEN curled it, and when everything was done, she curled it again.  Also, for the top sections to hold the curl better, she sort of pinned them up in big jumbo curls to set while she did everyone elses hair and then finished mine later.  The curls held for the ceremony and about half of the reception; they probably would have held all night except it was HOT the night of our wedding and I was sweating like mad.

Also-for hot rolling at home I love to use the Tresseme thermal creations culr activator spray.  I dilute it (otherwise it's crunchy) to about two parts product, one part water, and spray it on each section before rolling.  I do a lot of pinup looks and this stuff really works wonders.  And it's CHEAP!
