@Pixie26:  50 is a great size for a wedding. My first wedding had 50 guests and I enjoyed it so much that my second wedding also has 50 guests. It’s big enough to party but intimate enough that you know everyone.

@Pixie26: Yeah… There will be 12 people at our reception (assuming everyone can make it. The grandparents aren’t very mobile and they live across the country from each other and our venue (family farm that was passed down to FI’s mom)) Its not going to be a wild party but it will still be nice. 50 seems like more than you need to me.

One of the best weddings I’ve been to only had about 30 people. I think as long as your venue is sized appropriately (i.e., not a huge empty ballroom or something) you’ll be totally fine!

@Pixie26:  There will be, absolute maximum, 40 people at our wedding, This includes us, the photographer and the officiant. Most likely it will be about 25.  We rented a lively villa s our venue- I think they key here is to pick a venue that makes sense for the number of people you will have. A big hall would be weird with 50 people, but since you were only counting on up to 80, it shouldn’t bee too crazy.

I imagine your venue will let you reduce your numbers as long as you still spend the money as if there were 65 people. You could upgrade a few things, if you like.

@Pixie26:  Imagine trying to greet and thank 200 guests. Even at a minute apiece you would spend over 3 hours greeting guests. With 50 guests you are able to get it done in under an hour and then enjoy your reception. I would feel like a terrible hostess if I didn’t personally greet and thank every guest for attending and supporting the start of our marriage.
