So I was told the recessional is supposed to be fun or somewhat upbeat. Not having an easy time finding something I LOVE. I don’t really want an older song, I feel like everyone over uses them. My mom loves the idea of Bruno Mars, “MARRY ME” and I love Bruno, but FI says the lyrics are stupid. (Lol) I have looked through all of his other songs, but they are either too slow or has something sexual in it, which well… maybe okay for the reception, not okay for the ceremony. I like Jason Derulo’s Marry Me, but that song is sort of a pre-proposal song, do you think that will matter? Any other suggestions for R&B or something similar? I’m using an acoustic Boyce Avenue cover of 1000 years for precessional. If that helps. I kind of want something mellow, yet upbeat.

I don’t have any R&B suggestions (aside from maybe “Happy” if you aren’t sick of it by now, lol) but I just wanted to commiserate. FI and I had the worst time picking the recessional song, even though every other song was a breeze. We’ve currently landed on “Everything is Awesome” from the Lego movie since we couldn’t agree on anything else!

We are using “You & Me” by lifehouse, but obviously that’s not R&B.
I kind of like some of the verses from Jagged Edge “Let’s Get Married”, but it’s not really upbeat.

We’ll be using “I Want You” by Luke James. Originally we were thinking Happy but we’re both kinda over the song. lol

Lol! I know, I can’t believe I am having such a hard time with the recessional, I picked out all my other songs for ceremony and main dance songs. I love lifehouse too! I should maybe look at some of their songs. It doesn’t have to be r&b, I am just thinking something along those lines. 🙂

ahough2: I just started going through all my songs I have saved on Youtube until I stopped on one I thought was fitting. Not R&B but I like it.
Tie It Up by Kelly Clarkson

ahough2: I choose “God only knows” by the Beach Boys

ahough2: We had Linus and Lucy from A Charlie Brown Christmas. It was perfect for how we felt!!

We used the theme from Game of Thrones. Not at all traditional, I don’t think we could call it upbeat, more victorious, but it was perfect for us.

We used Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder (just the chorus). It is an older song, but I had never heard it at a wedding ceremony before so it was unique for us.

We are having a string trio play music for our ceremony, and have chosen Craig Armstrong’s “PM’s Love Theme” from Love Actually, which is my favourite movie.

Im planning on using feel the love by rudimental. So upbeat!

We have had the same problem. We don’t really “have” any songs and find most of the popular pop songs a bit too young for us.
Our recessional is going to be “If I Could Give You More” by Harry Connick Jr. Its super peppy and fun and all the lyircs are perfect, plus its a perfect kick off to our cocktail hour that starts immediately after we say “I do”
