The last few weeks I have been going crazy looking for a pretty white dress to wear to our rehearsal/rehearsal dinner. I don’t really wear white all that much and wasn’t necessarily interested in spending a ton on a cocktail dress that I will likely not wear again.
So, I chose a really pretty dress from J.Crew in cobalt blue that I love and can definitely see myself wearing on our honeymoon, as well as other events.
Anyone else doing the same?

@blushingbrooklynbride: I am! The only white/ivory dresses I am planning to wear are my ceremony gown and (maybe) my bridal shower dress. I love bold colours/designs, and I never really bought into the “wear white for every wedding-related event” mentality.
That blue dress is gorgeous; J Crew has lovely clothing. I love how it can easily be incorporated into your everyday wardrobe.

yeah! I’ve got a dark blue halter dress with bright yellow lemons on it! its a short-long deal. Didn’t even think about a white dress actually… oh well, too late now!

@blushingbrooklynbride: Same here! I don’t usually wear white… so buying another white dress I’ll never wear again seemed wasteful.
I ordered this dress from The Limited for another event, but once it arrived I loved it! Think I’m going to wear it to our rehearsal dinner.

I wore a black cocktail dress to my rehearsal dinner. None of my other close friends wore white to hers either.

I haven’t picked anything out yet but I think I will choose something that is colorful.

mine was navy (one of our wedding colors).

@MrsRight: the back on that dress is stunning.

@MlleFabuleux: Thank you! I also love brightly colored dresses and fun patterns! I have seen so many girls choose all white for everything…but I realized that it just wasn’t really my style.
@carnivaltheme: Your dress sounds so pretty and definitely something you can wear again. Love it!
@MrsRight: OH MY GOODNESS! I LOVE your dress. The back is amazing. I love the color too.
@Brielle: Thank you! I actually feel a lot more comfortable with my choice knowing that not EVERYONE chooses white.

Ok I might sound wedding ignorant by asking this, but since when is dressing up for your rehearsal a requirement? I mean cant we wear whatever we want, like jeans for example? lol Is it tradition to dress up?

@MrsRight: I love this dress, but the reviews on their website aren’t very good. Does it fit really right under your arms because that’s what the reviews are saying? Just wondering thanks!

@FutureMrsJohnston: I would have been totally ok with something less formal, but the rehearsal dinner is at a really nice place that my fiance’s parents absolutely love. Otherwise, I likely would have thrown on a summer dress and some flats and been on my way 🙂

@FutureMrsJohnston: You can wear whatever you want to your RD. I am having a formal RD, so my dress/gown will be formal. I’ve also been to really casual RDs where the bride wore jeans and a nice top. It’s all up to you! 😀
Btw, that was in no way an ignorant question since the level of dress is set by the hosts anyway (i.e. you/parents).

Nope! Just going to wear one of my sundresses. I never heard of dressing up for rehearsals until I came on WB. It simply isn’t done in our circle.
