Anyone else not want to know "stats" of your e-ring?

shawna.darling4:  wow!! is that a diamond?! it looks like it has a pink tint very pretty! I know my diamond stats and the overall setting info but I have no idea the size of the side diamonds in my three stone. I only know the main stats because I helped pick my ring out.

I would want to know, personally. But so long as my ring came with a heartfelt proposal on my husband’s part, I wasn’t picky.

shawna.darling4:  I know what metal it is so I can get a band to match and the stone shapes (I think) but really don’t care about anything else.  Which is handy as I don’t think my FI has any idea 🙂

shawna.darling4:  Your ring is absolutely gorgeous!

To answer our question, i DID want to know stats.  I actually chose the diamond myself.  I wanted to make sure that he was getting good value for his money.  Also i wanted an ideal cut stone and after going into the jeweler and being told that “well most people don’t come in here for that” and that the color i chose was “too low” – i had little trust in them choosing a diamond with my preferred criteria and his preferred budget….i would have prob ended up with a 3/4 ct not very well cut stone in a high color if he went through the local jeweler – but i ended up with a 1.01ct super ideal stone buying the diamond online.

To elaborate: had i not known any better about the 4 C’s, then i wouldn’t have been none the wiser when i received my ring.  I started my own research and it became like a game to me to get value while also getting ideal light performace etc.  I spent a lot of time at pricescope and i definately drank the koolaid 😉

I don’t have a diamond ring but I see a lot of oreos with gemstone rings talking about the equivalent carat size of their stone. When I went in with my husband, we looked around, I said “oh pretty” he bought it. I could care less about the size and whatnot. I know “blue genuine sapphire” and that’s it! But I get where you’re coming from. People have asked how big it is and I have to awkwardly shrug and go “I don’t know”.

My FI showed me the stats on my ring, but I’ve already forgotten some of it and I didn’t really care. All that really matters it that it’s sparkly and that I love it 🙂  I am kind of glad I don’t know how much he spent though.

shawna.darling4:  I think I just want a plain band but I’m really struggling to find one the same shape as my e ring and I either want an exact match or something totally different but not sure what the different would be. I don’t think I’d dare get it online as I’m starting to realise I’m just too picky when it comes to the band to risk it.
