first off...i love looking at all the ring porn out there of all the expensive rings that cost hundreds or even thousands of dollars its awesome to see all of the bing and all you ladies should be proud!

but...i dont see too many girls like myself rockin inexpensive rings. maybe some are a little shy cause they dont have the bling....but i say rock it! im proud of the ring my guy gave me. its a silver(yes silver not white gold) band with 5 diamonds totaling 1/5 of a ct.(.20 ctw) from walmart thats 125.00. i know some out there may have even spent less...and thats ok!!! be proud of your ring! even if you have a gemstone rock it! thats what my mom had and i love the idea of having a gemstone!

my ring story is this: i told my guy i wanted something simple from walmart. i know he couldnt afford anything crazy...but i didnt want anything crazy either. when he went to the store ( i had no idea he was doing this cause i was visiting relatives out of state) the ring i wanted wasent there. so he had to pick....he picked silver cause its a pure metal that dosent represent greed and was used in the church to make items...a humble but pure metal. i thought that was special. he surprised me at the airport upon picking me up with my parents hiding in the background....and that moment was priceless! ill never forget it! we even went to waffle house after lol....went home and there were flowers and a card. so even though it wasent all sliver screen...going to a fancy dinner or away a romantic getaway and with a big blinged out ring...i loved ever detail of that night! and my ring...to me it is perfect just like him! simple and simply perfect! i dont judge him on the price or size...the thought of him doing all of that for me was more then enough...to have a story to tell our kids is worth more then a 1ct ring. so in honor of my man and the love we have I ROCK MY RING.....who else is with me?

and no matter how big the ring or type of stone, or no stone, or how much was paid, or where it came from i call all ladies to ROCK THIER RING!!!  if you have something else other then a ring then ROCK IT!!! and if you dont have one then i honor you above all cause your love is so strong and evident that you dont even need one so ROCK IT!!!anyone else out there proud of your inexpensive ring? My ring came from Kmart and it's silver also.  It has some small diamonds then a larger one in the middle.  I think it cost $700.  What matters is that he picked it out himself and bought something that he could afford, not something he would have to make payments on.  And he proposed while I was laying on the couch, in my pjs, not feeling good!  I didn't need a big expensive ring or a romantic proposal.

Great thread!! I'm with you on all counts. Mine is also very inexpensive and I love it to bits and pieces. It's practically an extension of my body, I love it so much.

Your ring is lovely, congrats! I love the setting, it reminds me of the ocean; it looks like the diamonds are in between the waves.

I don't remember what my ring cost exactly, but I know it was under $350. Amethyst and white gold :)

I picked my 2nd engagement (Yes my second to him, 4th ever) out on Overstock.com. Under $200!!   We wanted something different, and we are anything but traditional.  I chose black and white diamonds, and we love it!  I've always wanted an emerald cut ring, so I got that, my black diamonds and it looks like sequins if you ask me :) I LOVE IT!

My original e-ring cost $150 from kay. It's 1/5 ctw and I wore it every day for 2 years until one of my prongs snapped :( They basically told us it would be cheaper to just upgrade and ended up getting an entire new bridal set for $400! my new set is 1 1/2 ctw :)

I love this post.  It's not all about the physicality of the ring  (carat weight, etc), it's the symbolism that really matters.

    p.s. Your ring is pretty!

Mine was about $550. I picked it out and decided to sacrifice clarity instead of size so that I could get my dream ring. You can't see the flaws inside unless you are looking at it very carefully anyway, and I am the only one that really does that since it's on my hand.

Also... we both paid for it. Our finances were going to be merged together anyways, so even if he bought it himself... it would still be like both of us bought it since it's OUR money. ya know?

@_Krystal_: Well the jewler is Birks, a high end old very classy jewler. It's also a Canadian diamond which from what I've seen are nearly double in price for the exact same non-Canadian diamond. And it's stats are quite good as well.

I don't know exactly where my ring is from but when searching online for stores in our area that have rings I found 2 places that have my ring....Kmart and Wal-Mart! My bling was $98 at Wal-Mart and 100something from K-mart. Either way, really cheap for an engagement ring. But it was a spur of the moment thing and I absolutely love it! (sorry its hard to show off the band detail and everything with just one picture)

@ingeborgslilly: i worked in a daycare when he was planning to propose and big stones that stick out wont work cus i have to wear gloves and wash my hands all day. this was petite and stream line so i didnt have to worrk. sadly it dosent go with my wedding ring (which is my big stone lol) so ill be wearing it as a right hand ring. we are thinking about getting the stones re set into a band that can go with my ruby ring though. but that wont be for a while like maybe our 5 year.

EATEN POST! 0.5TDW. RRP $1599, talked them down to $860 (IIRC), which is super cheap here in Oz. E.g. my band is 0.5TDW channel set princess cut in 18CT gold, here standard pricing is around $1200RRP.

My ring cost approx £150. It's a 20 point princess cut diamond solitare.  I'm in my early 40s and known for being forthright, so no one I know has commented on it's 'smallness'...most comment on the fact that my hands are so small!

I was born 2 months early and my hands never fully developed, I have extremely small hands and the fingers are not in proportion.  Anything over .50 in size looks extremely stupid on such small hands.... anyone else out there proud of your inexpensive ring? Mine is my avatar-half carat sapphire Claddagh ring with tiny pave diamonds in the crown and on the hands. It cost $800 and is made in Ireland. So not likely to be found in any jewelry store in the States-another thing I liked about it:)

OP (can't reply with this iPad-sorry!) I really love your setting. I didn't buy the matching band to my ring and I have my eye on half-eternity bands. They are so, so pretty:)

Mine was new $1500, on sale second hand for $1000, on sale from that 1/2 price, so that's $500.00, minus 10% since we had troubles with the quality of the first Ering bought from their store.

Plus they sized it and replated it for Free.

The centre is 4 smaller stones equally 1/2 a carat and the side stones equal around a 1/4 more.

I dont know the stats on the colour and clarity but the stones throw amazing light and even in darker/cloudy conditions look a nice cool white.  From what I've learned on the Bee, their colour is almost nil.

My ring: $30. It's fake and I love it. Actually, it cost less than my wedding band. My husband had a problem with the jewelry store when he went to pick up the ring he chose. Since they didn't have it, he proposed with a "stunt double" and wanted to buy me a "real" ring. I said let's use the money for the wedding and then I could get an anniversary ring later on. It's perfectly us and I love it.

@_Krystal_: and @ Jennfur: I also had a casual couch proposal! it was right after we returned from a road trip. I barely even had time to settle in. he knew it was the right thing to propose in private and he was correct, as I am embarrassed at how red I look when I cry (even happy tears)!

I don't think my ring is cheap, but if the polls are accurate, mine is definitely in the bottom range of prices compared to other girls at wedding bee.  if I were to lose it, I'd probably replace it with a moissanite. I'm not into expensive rings for myself!
