I am almost there! lol But mainly because I am just overwhelmed! I did have a friend that was having a large wedding and then decided it was not really their style, so she and her FI got married on a cruise ship with a small number of guests (about 50) and the ceremony and reception only lasted about 2 hours. After everyone left they stayed on the ship and left for their honeymoon!

SkinnyLatte17:  girl i think we’re the same person, mostly. mr. h and i are about to move 6 hours away to nashville in november, and the thought of moving is first and foremost right now for us. our parents however are like OMGGG WEDDINGGGGG!!!! i’m the first to get married for my parents, and mr. h is the baby so it’s a big deal on his side too. everyone’s like have you set a date? do you know colors? CAKE!!??

and i’m like…we need to find a house? lol. i feel like a bad bride because everyone thinks i should be wedding planning right now and my first instinct is to start planning at the first of the year, once we’re more settled! and it’s probably because we’re moving soon, but the idea of planning a wedding seems like the most overwhelming thing ever (though, i don’t want to go the courthouse route. i still want the full on wedding day, i just don’t want to plan it. wahhhh) haha

SkinnyLatte17:  i am with you 100% sister. i imagine our families might have a small coronary when we say oh by the way, we’re going to have the wedding in TN to make it easier for us to plan. haha. they’ll all still travel (and our friends, thank god for them, will be like ROAD TRIP!!) but still. i can deal with moving and a wedding, but i can’t add planning said wedding from 6 hours away to that list. my brain can’t take it.

SkinnyLatte17:  i am pretty much there too. our wedding is sept 2015 and although i am lucky that his family is paying for it, i feel now that this has turned into a family reunion! my side of family/friends number less than 10 and his is easily over the 180 mark. so you can tell this wedding already will be off blanced. i am just over the fact that the women in the family is so super excited to plan things and i am not. i guess it doesnt help that my family lives in another province so i dont have any support on my side. i would love to just do the whole city hall, lovely dinner, bam its over. dave and busters though sounds so much fun! i’d love to do that!!!!

You may want to reconsider Dave & Busters.  It sounds really fun, but I went to a wedding there years ago and the food was not good at all.  I don’t mean it wasn’t fancy food, I mean like soggy corn on the cob.  Also, none of the older guests had any interest in playing the games and the whole affair was a little awkward.  I don’t fault the bride and groom, but I wouldn’t recommend it as a wedding venue.

I completely understand not wanting to plan a wedding.  Ever since I realized how much would be involved and how expensive it would be I’ve been very cynical about the process.  To top it off, my fiancé doesn’t want a fuss and neither of us likes to be the center of attention.  Unlike your mom, my mom doesn’t have any interest in planning.  May I suggest you share you vision and concerns with her and then let her do some of the leg work?  You can still make the final decisions, but researching won’t wear you down.  Also, take a break and come back to it.  If you put the planning aside for a few weeks, you’ll be able to approach it again with renewed energy.

I’m not over it in the sense that I want to cancel it.. I’m just ready to be done! There’s so much to do and I’ve been working on it for almost 2 years now, I’m ready for my day to come and go so we can get back to real life!

I am over it. A venue quoted me 12 grand for food and that does not include bread or salad. Bread would be an 250.00 more. The actual venue location is only 3500 however.  She than argues with me and tells me that people get married at that location with my budget all the time… I guess those brides walk down without music and a dress on because there is no way they can afford anything else.

I than had another venue ask me why in the world would I want to get married on a Friday the 13th. She than said that she hopes I am a lucky person to balance out the unlucky day.

plus my mom gets mad if I look or do anything wedding related without her. I am over it. I would go to a wedding at Dave and busters though that sounds fun.
