Yes! DH and I plan to start TTC in June. I’m super excited but also a little nervous (this will be the first baby for both of us).

Is there a particular reason you’ve picked June? For us, there’s 2 reasons. The first is that it’s when my BC runs out lol and I’d have to go back to the doctor for another script. The second is that we’re hoping to have our renovations completed by then, so we’ll actually have a room ready for baby once they come along. I actually think our renos will be complete before then but at least we have time in case something goes wrong!

Well..I wouldnt say officially..But we get married March 25th and we both want kids. Im good with “letting things happen” aka not stopping it after the wedding. So it’s possible we will be TTC by June. I’ll be 29 in April and FI will be be 35 in June so we don’t really have a ton of time to just wait.

I always thought for whatever reason I’d have difficulty getting pregnant. Ive never really been on birth control and ive always been told I had a tilted cervix. I went to the OBGYN a few months ago and voiced all of my concerns, and said that I’d be TTC within the year. She did a complete check up, assured me everything looked good, and did hormone and blood work as well. Everything came back great..so now waiting for the wedding…lol.

garnobella :  Wow, you already have quite the family there! I can totally see why you don’t want to try earlier and why you don’t want to wait. I am turning 27 in a few months and DH is just about to turn 26; we got married back in December so I can totally sympathise with getting impatient!

I don’t really think we’ve done a whole lot to prepare lol although we’ve been trying to eat healthier and be more active since before our wedding so that’s something I guess. I actually went to my local GP on the weekend for an unrelated issue and mentioned our plans. She requested that I take a blood test in the next week so that she can check everything – she said if anything crops up (ie low iron levels), we can make sure we have it in hand before TTC which makes a lot of sense. She also recommended that I start taking multivitamins about a month before, so I’ll start that in May.

I’ve also recently started drinking less alcohol and plan to gradually decrease the amount until I’m pregnant when I will stop drinking all together. DH and I realised that the main giveaway when I am pregnant will be that I’m not drinking (I always have a few drinks when we get together with friends or family and have done. for years). We have no problem telling our parents early but don’t want to tell anyone else until 12 weeks so will need to come up with ways to avoid discovery lol.

I will be starting TTC in June as well. Why June? We are going to start straight after the wedding which is June 3. I am 30 but FI is 42 so we feel we can’t really wait. He feels he is already borderline too old for a newborn and I agree. No shade on others who have had a baby at this age or older of course – if people know they can handle it at whatever age, then good on them! But for us, it would be better to happen sooner rather than later.

I am not doing much to prepare yet. Just discussing various pregnancy and child related topics over dinner. This month I’m finishing up on BC and going to start tracking my cycle. Also bought some vitamins and a bag of cheap pregnancy tests.

I am so happy that this is a thread!  We are getting married June 3 and will start TTC ASAP!  We have actually talked about TTC the week before the wedding (shhh!) since that is when I will be ovulating wink We are both 28 and are more than ready for kids; we are so incredibly excited about this part of our lives!  It will be #1 for both of us and we would like a large family, so we are definitely getting things in order.  We know that 28 isn’t “old” but if we want a number of kids then we know our life after June will be drastically different forever.  I started taking prenatal’s a couple months ago, just because I happened to walk by them in the store and thought, why not?  I stopped Mononessa (BCP) in December because I ran out (we use protection every time now).  Neither of us is really slowing down our social drinking yet because…well, this is a fun time of our lives!  We have so many parties and weddings this year, especially since ours is one of them, that we aren’t going to change anything in that sense until we officially start trying.  We have both been trying to eat healthier; and I have (for the first time in my life) started working out regularly.  I have lost 7 lbs in the last 3 weeks! I wasn’t overweight to begin with but definitely not toned.  The game plan is to be as fit and healthy as possible when we do eventually get pregnant since I know how easily I gain weight, and it will be a neverending battle once we start.  We own our house, but it is a small 2 bedroom, and we are somewhat house hunting.  We want to move to my hometown (only 15 minutes from current home) so that our kids can go to a much better school, and so that they can grow up in a much bigger house than the one we currently own.  We aren’t seriously house hunting yet, but will definitely look as soon as we get pregnant.

I’m so excited to hear everyone’s stories and get to know you ladies!  Congrats on deciding to TTC and best of luck! XOXO

garnobella :  It’s exciting but also weird to think that a year from now I could be either heavily pregnant, slightly pregnant, not pregnant or maybe found I have fertility problems. Everything is so unknown. And they say waiting to be engaged is bad lol.

pancakes11 :  Completely agree! DH’s family is actually planning a family holiday for January next year; we’re holding off on committing because we’re not sure where we’ll be at (not that flying should be a problem, as I’ll likely only be 7 months along at the most, but you never know).

Our wedding day is June 23rd and as per FF I should be ovulating the day of the wedding OMG lol we were planning on TTC right away after the wedding (like first ovulation) but my job situation and weight is not at where I want them to be as of now, and most likely will not be by June (especially the weight) so we most likely will wait till fall, but if the job situation is better by June, even if the weight is not we may start NTNP in June and see how it goes, and once my weight is down to where I need it to be, we will actively TTC if not pregnant yet. I’m turning 32 in May FI is turning 40 in April, it will be a first baby for both of us and neither of us has been married before either.. and we are kinda pressed for time and cant push TTC too far back any longer.

ETA I have been off the pill for a year and have been tracking my cycles that long just to know my body. And we’re both taking vitamins but not as religiously as we should yet.

ana2017 :  Oh, yes! Sorry, didn’t realise I left this out – it’s a holiday within our home country, we just have to fly (or drive) interstate and there’s no reports of Zika here. We have no plans to visit the countries where Zika is an issue anytime in the near future (regardless of whether we were TTC or not).
