We are supposed to fly from our home in Seattle to our families (both of them) in the DC area tomorrow. Here's the current word on the weather that's supposed to begin at 9pm tonight in the DC area:
"In Virginia, which could see some of the highest totals, a state of emergency has been declared, with the governor's office urging people to "prepare to be on their own for up to 72 hours." The window is quickly closing before snow arrives."
"As snow makes its approach from the south, confidence is growing that this powerful storm will eventually find itself ranked among the greats. In fact, December (and perhaps other) snowstorm records may be about to fall throughout the area. Louis Uccellini, director of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Centers for Environmental Prediction and a 'godfather' of snowstorm analysis, ... said, "chances are steadily increasing for this to be a historic snowstorm.""
15-24 inches is what they're saying for the airport we're supposed to land at. Merry Freaking Christmas!
It was pouring earlier but it seems to have stopped now!
they are planning on closing airports tonight...just saw it on the news...be careful out there Bees! SO just drove to a funeral for the day and is dying to come back to me...but im trying to make him stay put with his family tonight...its rough out there!
15-24 inches?! Yikes! We're supposed to get up to 8 inches this weekend...and people here are going crazy; storming the grocery stores and such.
Thank God my dad is a Meterologist and told me to grocery shop last night! I'm fine with getting snowed in for a few days. LittlestBirds I hope you can get your flight rescheduled!
Im stranded indoors and finally Say Yes to the Dress is on! I was so bored! haha.
I'm getting ready for my first snowstorm in New York City. My friend who's lived here longer says that the city gets really miserable when it snows - everything slows down, it's impossible to get anywhere, etc. I'm hoping it won't be too bad though - I don't want to sit in the house all weekend!
OMG it's pouring buckets of snow here!!!!!! I left work early at like 3 - FI went out to get a sled (stupid) and then decided it was too bad out and turned around but decided to come back home the back way (more stupid) and he just got back from being stranded for like 2.5 hours!!!! It was him and my neighbor, they went in a ditch, but got out. All kinds of other cars were in the ditch then. Cars everywhere facing every which way. EMS was there and firetrucks trying to get people out. He finally just got home like 10 minutes ago.
oh my Honeybun! Glad he is ok! Its kind of funny he went to get a sled..lol...i can see Teddy doing that too!
@honeybun: That's scary that they got stuck in a ditch! I'm glad he got home okay.
I'm in North Carolina and the snow is coming down! I love it, they let us off work early :0) Now I'm just waiting for the FI to get home so we can be snowed in!
I would kill to be snowed in instead of rained in! Snow is so much more festive! oh and SO is coming home...i told him that he has to stay in the right lane and drive SLOW.
I'm trying to get out of DC, to Atlanta. I fear for the worst. On hold forever trying to reschedule our flight, which was supposed to be tomorrow.....
Gah, this weekend I would prefer rain to the snow we're getting. At least I could still do the things I planned to do if it was raining! In Richmond, VA...calling for like 4-12 over the next 24 hours here. My friend's 30th birthday party is tonight, and I feel TERRIBLE not going but it doesn't seem like the smart choice....also looks like Mr. B and I will miss a FABULOUS party his aunt is throwing in DC tomorrow night....BOO SNOW, BOO!
All we are getting here in Charlotte is rain and sleet. If I can't fly out of here on Sunday Mother Nature and I are going to have some words...
It is still coming down like crazyyyyyyy here. There is so much snow! It hasn't done this in years. And the weather channel is here in town. And Roanoke is NOT the place to be, haha, so you know it's gotta be bad if they are here!
Our dogs are having a ball in it!
It just started flurrying here. I'm kinda excited to see what tomorrow brings. I am looking forward to a day snowed in, watching bad tv, playing on WB.
Upper SC here, nothing but really cold rain with a bit of sleet, and the bastards in upper Charlotte like 45 minutes away get snow *shakes fist* I WANT SNOW!!! lol
Arineya...I am right here in Charlotte and all we got was rain and sleet....not a lick of snow...shake your fist a little higher up...like Greensboro...LOL
not soo much snow in NYC, but still hard to get around if you don't have an SUV....
