My wedding isn’t until May, and I’m in panic-mode about getting a cold. My FI and I usually get 1 big cold a year, that lasts about a week.
I’m fully stocked on Cold Eeze (to help reduce cold symptoms/length of cold…they seem to work if you take them the very second you start feeling “off”) and I’ve become crazy about washing our hands.
Because honestly, the flowers could not show up, my dress could get ripped, it could rain, and that would ALL be fine…. but having a fever and stuffy nose and sore throat on my wedding day? I would be devastated.
Anyone else worried about getting sick right before their wedding?

I got the stomach flu every other weekend for two months straight before the wedding. And the way it was going the next time I was supposed to get it was going to be the weekend of my wedding. You bet I was worried! Luckily I didn’t get it. But man was I worried. Good news was I lost a lot of weight. My dress still fit, cause I didn’t get it altered until two weeks before.

Yes – me!! My immune system is usually pretty good, but I’m so nervous because I have to travel for my wedding, and so I’m worried I won’t get enough sleep, or I’ll catch something on the plane… I try not to think about it, but yes, I worry.

@LadyMoriarty: this is my biggest worry. I get sick easily, especially in the fall and especially when I’m stressed. I’m stocking up on airborne.

My wedding was in December.. in Canada. Winter here is not fun. So yeah, I was worried. Especially since I had a bad cold and then the flu back in Oct/Nov. Luckily I wasn’t sick… it all went fine.
Try to get stuff done so you don’t have too much in the weeks leading up to the wedding. If you’re run down and not sleeping well, you’ll likely catch something.

Honestly, it never crossed my mind.

I have been so worried about that since I hadn’t been sick all season. But I am sick now, and I have never been so happy about it! Hopefully this means I can stay healthy for the next 6 weeks! I am loaded up on zinc and vitamins daily too

I lived it!
I got the flu the week before my wedding. It wasn’t even a normal flu, it was the awful, flu epidemic that swept the nation in January 2013.
I went to the doctor to get some flu medicine. The doctor asked me if I wanted Tamiflu. Of course I did. “There’s just one side effect…” What’s that? Oh, some people get really depressed on it and kill themselves. “Just try not to stress.” He told me. Seriously?
I ended up taking it and it turned things around in a few days. I was still a bit sniffly on my wedding day but it was still wonderful.
Try not to worry about it, just take your vitamins. The moral of the story is that stress can only make things worse!

@lollygagon: Hah! I was hoping that if we do get a cold, it would be in April, that way we’d be “safe” for May. I know it’s crazy thinking, lol

@oneyearout: I have to travel too, from CA to NY… so a good 5 1/2 hour flight… stuck in a tin can with recycled air. I feel like I’m gonna die, lol

@whaleigh: Oh dear, that sounds like the most horrible thing ever 🙁 I’m glad you didn’t get it on your wedding though! The stomach flu is just pure evil.

I got the cold. But on the day of the wedding it miraculously disappeared. It’s amazing what happy emotions and adrenaline will do =)
