I do disagree with it.  And it certainly makes me weary (and wary!) regarding posting sometimes.

I agree wholeheartedly. If they can’t give us the ability to delete comments, we should have the ability to remove our whole accounts.

As concerned as they are about privacy, you’d think there’d be an option of some type for this.

we should be able to delete our account. I had to make this new name because I did not want to be associated with my old account since I used it at first to post an anonymous question.

With all this drama, and being a new person here I dont feel so eager to post 🙁

Every website has its’ own Terms of Service. It’s obviously important to read them before you join. You agreed to the TOS when you did join. A bit after the fact to complain about it now.

WeddingBee is generally a helpful, supportive community. There are always a few members who are drama queens on any message board. It’s easy not to get involved- just don’t respond to those posts.

While I understand the concern of being unable to edit posts after an hour, the policy is clearly noted in the TOS and has been explained so many times.  It’s done so the posts stay honest, and that things can be used for future reference, rather than having the same posts asked over and over and over (more so than they already are!).

I agree we should be able to delete our accounts. I’m not entirely sure how many ppl actually read TOS’ (has anyone ever read iTunes gagillion page TOS?).

i think its kinda shady the bee does not allow you to edit/modify/delete threads and accounts.

It would be nice to have some transparency but this is the Internet, and it ain’t our first rodeo. If you wouldn’t want your mom/FI/friends to see it. Dont post it.

You can delete photos though if you uploaded them instead of linking them from another site, so at least if you post pics of you in your dress and then want them off the internet until the wedding, you can do that.

I’d really like an option to make members-only, non-database-searchable posts.

If your looking for control, i would avoid the internet at all costs!

Nothing is ever deleted on the World Wide Web 😉 I work for a very well known search engine and youd be surprised!

I know it stinks, but just try to be concious about what you share when interacting online, its the best anyone can do!

I’m confused about what you want in terms of deleting an account. Do you want everything you ever posted to just disappear when you delete? I don’t think I know a single online board where you can do that. If you delete your facebook account, your comments on other people’s posts live on. If you delete a LiveJournal account, your posts on other people’s journals or on communities remain and your name is striked through. Therefore, deactivation is really the closest you get anywhere to deleting anyway.

If people were allowed to delete willynulls you would lose the value of the bee. You’d read threads with holes in them, people could change their posts rendering the rest of the thread confusing etc. To me it makas sense if they want to keep the integrity of the bee.

You have one hour to rethink what you said.  That should be plenty of time to decide if what you said should be aired to the Internet.

I get why they do it but I know sometimes I think, I so wish I could delete a post/comment! I am glad they let us change our usernames though. My old one had part of my name in it and I was worried someone I know might find it and that might be awkward!

TBH I just don’t see any reason why WB couldn’t just allow us to delete our posts. Plenty of other forums do allow that. Yes, it could make it harder to follow threads if people delete their comments, but so what. It’s not a big deal.
