I’m already married but I’m currently trying to lose 75 lbs (25 down!) because we want to TTC summer 2018. I’ve fallen off the wagon for about the last month (thankfully maintaining, not gaining) but I’m getting back at it! I try to workout 5 times a week and I count calories using MyFitnessPal and just try to eat healthier in general.

Hey bee – I didn’t have a lot of weight to lose, but I do gain and cut fat quite frequently due to weightlifting in the gym.

You’ve got a lot of time, do you have a starting goal? I’d really recommend tracking your eating habits in My Fitness Pal, it’s invaluable! I love it. I track my food everyday and it really helps you visualize your nutrition and diet 🙂

Good luck on your journey!

mrsyoung18 :  I am trying to lose a lot of weight for my wedding. Part of it is that I want to feel healthy and beautiful on my wedding day, and the other part is that I’d like to be in a place where I feel I could have a much safer pregnancy.

I have been using myfitnesspal to lower my calories while keeping myself healthily satiated, and I am also working out a few times a week with cardio and weight lifting. I’ve lost twenty pounds or so.

I’m trying to lose weight now too. I want to lose about 7% of my body weight. I’m currently taking a product call truvision to lose. It’s really good for you but suppresses appetite & gives you energy. I’ve got to be careful with losing bc I have always been underweight & im finally at the low end of normal range via bmi BUT all my weight is in my stomach. I’m walking a fine line between feeling fat & not having enough fat on me to conceive. It’s really frustrating….why can’t I just have a flat tummy & keep the weight I’ve gained in my arms/legs.

2 lbs a week is ambitious. Doable but you’d have to be pretty much perfect with your diet and exercise routine. It might be more reasonable to set you goal at 1 – 1.5 a week.

Also be careful getting your hopes up of 2 pounds a week. I’m down 50 pounds but my weight loss hasn’t been constant 2 lbs a week- and I’m larger than you. While it’s great to want to lose 2/week, don’t beat yourself up if you’re not losing consistently at that rate. With your optimism, you’ll be successful, regardless of when it happens 🙂

My wedding is over Labor Day weekend and I’ve been working on weight loss for a little over 3 months and have lost about 27 pounds. Looking to lose 20 more but won’t achieve that before the wedding.

I started with intermittent fasting and while it was extremely successful I don’t recommend it, nor do I recommend losing a lot of weight quickly, which might be tempting in the beginning. Because I was significantly overweight (over 200) the fasting actually caused issues with my gallbladder. Apparently overweight, fertile women are much more likely to have gallbladder issues and losing weight too fast often creates gallstones. I don’t have actual stones but the beginning stages. Hopefully all I’ll need is medication for several months and won’t have to get my gallbladder removed.

I’ve had friends who have had great success with the Whole 30 program. It’s more focused around making sure you focus on nutrition-dense foods so it’s great if you’re really aiming for a whole lifestyle change.

Me! I’ve wanted to lose weight for a while since gaining a ton of weight in college, and I actually lost 15 pounds last year but gained it all back because I got undisciplined and didn’t track what I ate.

I’m now down 15 pounds again and they’re staying off this time! Only 60 to go 😏

When I was slimming down for my wedding Beachbody was an absolute lifesaver and a lot of other bees have had success with one of their programs (I actually heard about it here!). They’ve got a great free trial you can use to sample some of their offerings if you think working out at home might help you hit your goal: https://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/online-workouts-videos.do
