I’m just quite fed up with student loans. I wouldn’t mind paying them if I had a job, and I’ve been looking hard for 6 months – since they day I became eligable to work in the UK, but I can’t change the fact that I don’t have one.
-My federal loans are consolidated, but I can’t get a deferment because I am not “actively seeking work in the US,” so they’ve been on forebearance since I moved to the UK. They also do not allow me to register a non US mailing address, so I have to use my parents’.
-My private loan is a much smaller amount, but I’ve used up my non-payment period, I’m sick of having my husband pay it, but they only option they give me is for my co-signers to pay it. My parents co-signed starting when I went to Uni at age 17, but they had to take out separate loans for me so I can’t consider asking them to help me out.
Has anyone else been in a similar situation with their federal loans and sorted it out? Anyone else just really annoyed at the US student loan system in general?
